Los filisteos desconfían de David
29 Los filisteos reunieron todos sus ejércitos(A) en Afec(B), mientras los israelitas acamparon junto a la fuente que está en Jezreel(C). 2 Y los príncipes de los filisteos iban avanzando por cientos y por miles, y David y sus hombres marchaban en la retaguardia con Aquis(D). 3 Entonces los jefes de los filisteos dijeron: «¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos?». Y Aquis dijo a los jefes de los filisteos: «¿No ven que este es David, el siervo de Saúl, rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo estos días(E), o más bien estos años, y no he hallado falta en él desde el día en que se pasó[a] a mí hasta hoy(F)?». 4 Pero los jefes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y[b] le dijeron: «Haz que ese[c] hombre se vaya, y regrese al lugar que le asignaste, y no le permitas que descienda a la batalla con nosotros(G), no sea que en la batalla se convierta en nuestro adversario(H). Pues, ¿con qué podría hacerse él aceptable a su señor? ¿No sería con las cabezas de estos[d] hombres? 5 ¿No es este David, de quien cantaban en las danzas, diciendo:
“Saúl mató a sus miles,
Y David a sus diez miles(I)”?».
6 Aquis llamó a David y le dijo: «Vive el Señor que tú has sido recto; tu salir y tu entrar en el ejército conmigo son agradables a mis ojos, pues no he hallado mal en ti desde el día en que te pasaste a mí hasta hoy(J). Sin embargo, no eres agradable a los ojos de los príncipes(K). 7 Ahora pues, vuelve y vete en paz, para que no desagrades a[e] los príncipes de los filisteos». 8 Y David dijo a Aquis: «Pero ¿qué he hecho? ¿Y qué ha hallado en su siervo desde el día en que estuve delante de usted hasta hoy(L), para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey?». 9 Aquis respondió a David: «Yo sé que eres grato a mis ojos como un ángel de Dios(M); sin embargo, los comandantes de los filisteos han dicho: “Él no debe subir con nosotros a la batalla(N)”. 10 Por tanto[f], levántate muy de mañana con los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo, y luego que se hayan levantado temprano y haya claridad[g], partan de aquí(O)». 11 David, pues, se levantó temprano, él y sus hombres, para salir por la mañana y regresar a la tierra de los filisteos. Y los filisteos subieron a Jezreel.

29 Los filisteos juntaron todas sus fuerzas en Afec, e Israel acampó junto a la fuente que está en Jezreel. 2 Y cuando los príncipes de los filisteos pasaban revista a sus compañías de a ciento y de a mil hombres, David y sus hombres iban en la retaguardia con Aquis. 3 Y dijeron los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿Qué hacen aquí estos hebreos? Y Aquis respondió a los príncipes de los filisteos: ¿No es este David, el siervo de Saúl rey de Israel, que ha estado conmigo por días y años, y no he hallado falta en él desde el día que se pasó a mí hasta hoy? 4 Entonces los príncipes de los filisteos se enojaron contra él, y le dijeron: Despide a este hombre, para que se vuelva al lugar que le señalaste, y no venga con nosotros a la batalla, no sea que en la batalla se nos vuelva enemigo; porque ¿con qué cosa volvería mejor a la gracia de su señor que con las cabezas de estos hombres? 5 ¿No es este David, de quien cantaban en las danzas, diciendo:
Saúl hirió a sus miles,
Y David a sus diez miles?(A)
6 Y Aquis llamó a David y le dijo: Vive Jehová, que tú has sido recto, y que me ha parecido bien tu salida y tu entrada en el campamento conmigo, y que ninguna cosa mala he hallado en ti desde el día que viniste a mí hasta hoy; mas a los ojos de los príncipes no agradas. 7 Vuélvete, pues, y vete en paz, para no desagradar a los príncipes de los filisteos. 8 Y David respondió a Aquis: ¿Qué he hecho? ¿Qué has hallado en tu siervo desde el día que estoy contigo hasta hoy, para que yo no vaya y pelee contra los enemigos de mi señor el rey? 9 Y Aquis respondió a David, y dijo: Yo sé que tú eres bueno ante mis ojos, como un ángel de Dios; pero los príncipes de los filisteos me han dicho: No venga con nosotros a la batalla. 10 Levántate, pues, de mañana, tú y los siervos de tu señor que han venido contigo; y levantándoos al amanecer, marchad. 11 Y se levantó David de mañana, él y sus hombres, para irse y volver a la tierra de los filisteos; y los filisteos fueron a Jezreel.

The Philistines Reject David
29 Then (A)the Philistines gathered together all their armies (B)at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by a fountain which is in Jezreel. 2 And the (C)lords of the Philistines [a]passed in review by hundreds and by thousands, but (D)David and his men passed in review at the rear with Achish. 3 Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?”
And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me (E)these days, or these years? And to this day I have (F)found no fault in him since he defected to me.”
4 But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him, (G)“Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to (H)battle, lest (I)in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these (J)men? 5 Is this not David, (K)of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying:
(L)‘Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands’?”
6 Then Achish called David and said to him, “Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and (M)your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For to this day (N)I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me. Nevertheless the lords do not favor you. 7 Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”
8 So David said to Achish, “But what have I done? And to this day what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?”
9 Then Achish answered and said to David, “I know that you are as good in my sight (O)as an angel of God; nevertheless (P)the princes of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’ 10 Now therefore, rise early in the morning with your master’s servants (Q)who have come with [b]you. And as soon as you are up early in the morning and have light, depart.”
11 So David and his men rose early to depart in the morning, to return to the land of the Philistines. (R)And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
