25 Samuel mourut. Tout Israël s'étant assemblé le pleura, et on l'enterra dans sa demeure à Rama. Ce fut alors que David se leva et descendit au désert de Paran.
2 Il y avait à Maon un homme fort riche, possédant des biens à Carmel; il avait trois mille brebis et mille chèvres, et il se trouvait à Carmel pour la tonte de ses brebis.
3 Le nom de cet homme était Nabal, et sa femme s'appelait Abigaïl; c'était une femme de bon sens et belle de figure, mais l'homme était dur et méchant dans ses actions. Il descendait de Caleb.

David se mit en route et se retira au désert de Parân. 2 A Maôn vivait un homme très riche qui avait des propriétés dans le village de Karmel[a]. Il possédait trois mille moutons et mille chèvres. A cette époque, il se trouvait à Karmel pour la tonte de ses moutons. 3 Cet homme, un descendant de Caleb, s’appelait Nabal. Sa femme, Abigaïl, était très intelligente et belle, tandis que son mari était dur et méchant.

David, Nabal and Abigail
25 Now Samuel died,(A) and all Israel assembled and mourned(B) for him; and they buried him at his home in Ramah.(C) Then David moved down into the Desert of Paran.[a]
2 A certain man in Maon,(D) who had property there at Carmel, was very wealthy.(E) He had a thousand goats and three thousand sheep, which he was shearing(F) in Carmel. 3 His name was Nabal and his wife’s name was Abigail.(G) She was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband was surly and mean in his dealings—he was a Calebite.(H)

25 થોડા સમય બાદ શમુએલનું અવસાન થયું. સર્વ ઇસ્રાએલીઓ તેના દફન માંટે ભેગા થયા અને તેના અવસાન પર તેઓએ શોક જાહેર કર્યો, અને રામાંમાં તેને ઘરમાં દફનાવ્યો.
