1 Samuel 20:7-9
Living Bible
7 If he says, ‘Fine!’ then I’ll know that all is well. But if he is angry, then I’ll know that he is planning to kill me. 8 Do this for me as my sworn brother. Or else kill me yourself if I have sinned against your father, but don’t betray me to him!”
9 “Of course not!” Jonathan exclaimed. “Look, wouldn’t I say so if I knew that my father was planning to kill you?”

1 Samuel 20:7-9
New International Version
7 If he says, ‘Very well,’ then your servant is safe. But if he loses his temper,(A) you can be sure that he is determined(B) to harm me. 8 As for you, show kindness to your servant, for you have brought him into a covenant(C) with you before the Lord. If I am guilty, then kill(D) me yourself! Why hand me over to your father?”
9 “Never!” Jonathan said. “If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you?”
