⁵³ Then the Israelites^[a] returned from pursuing the Philistines and plundered their camp. ⁵⁴ And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem and placed his weapons in his tent.

⁵⁵ Now when Saul saw David going out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner, the commander of the army, “Whose son is this young man, Abner?” And Abner said, “As your soul lives, O king, I do not know.”
