⁷ Then ^(A)Saul ^[a]defeated the Amalekites, from ^(B)Havilah ^[b]going toward ^(C)Shur, which is ^[c]east of Egypt. ⁸ He captured ^(D)Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and ^(E)completely destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

¹⁷ And David ^[a]slaughtered them ^(A)from the twilight ^[b]until the evening of ^[c]the next day; and not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on ^(B)camels and fled.
