⁴ But when they rose early on the next morning, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and both his hands were lying cut off upon the threshold; only the trunk of^[a] Dagon was left to him.^(A)

¹¹ Thus shall you say to them: The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.^[a](A)

⁸ Even their gods, with their idols and with their precious vessels of silver and gold, he shall carry off to Egypt as spoils of war. For some years he shall refrain from attacking the king of the north;^(A)

⁴ Your altars shall become desolate, and your incense stands shall be broken, and I will throw down your slain in front of your idols.^{(A) 5} I will lay the corpses of the people of Israel in front of their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars. ⁶ Wherever you live, your towns shall be waste and your high places ruined, so that your altars will be waste and ruined,^[a] your idols broken and destroyed, your incense stands cut down, and your works wiped out.^(B)
