³ the commanders of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the commanders of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me ^(A)now for days and years, and since he deserted to me ^(B)I have found no fault in him to this day.”

⁵ Then these men said, “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God.”

^7 (A)And the number of the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was a year and four months.

^16 (A)having a good conscience, so that, ^(B)when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

^17 (A)Repay no one evil for evil, but ^(B)give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

⁶ When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, ^(A)“Take him yourselves and crucify him, for ^(B)I find no guilt in him.”

²⁸ Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the Lord will certainly make my lord ^(A)a sure house, because my lord ^(B)is fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live.
