⁵ Then David answered the priest, and said to him, “Truly, women have been kept from us about three days since I came out. And ^[a]the ^(A)vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in effect common, even though it was consecrated ^(B)in the vessel this day.”

²⁰ But in a great house there are not only ^(A)vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. ²¹ Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, ^[a]sanctified and useful for the Master, ^(B)prepared for every good work.

³ For this is ^(A)the will of God, ^(B)your sanctification: ^(C)that you should abstain from sexual immorality; ^4 (D)that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go, for ^(A)he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before ^(B)Gentiles, ^(C)kings, and the ^(D)children^[a] of Israel.

⁹ And ^(A)it shall be for Aaron and his sons, ^(B)and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the offerings of the Lord made by fire, by a perpetual statute.”

^26 (A)and from the basket of unleavened bread that was before the Lord he took one unleavened cake, a cake of bread anointed with oil, and one wafer, and put them on the fat and on the right thigh;

¹⁷ For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
