⁵⁰ So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling^(A) and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.

¹⁵ Finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey, he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men.^(A)

²¹ Saul replied, “The Lord bless^(A) you for your concern^(B) for me.

⁹ The priest replied, “The sword^(A) of Goliath^(B) the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah,^(C) is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.”

David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”

³⁹ David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off.

²² So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan^(A) had a sword or spear^(B) in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them.

Shamgar

³¹ After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath,^(A) who struck down six hundred^(B) Philistines^(C) with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel.
