³⁵ And ^(A)Samuel went no more to see Saul until the day of his death. Nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul, and the Lord regretted that He had made Saul king over Israel.

^24 (A)And he also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down ^(B)naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, ^(C)“Is Saul also among the prophets?”

^11 (A)“I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has ^(B)turned back from following Me, ^(C)and has not performed My commandments.” And it ^(D)grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.

16 Now the Lord said to Samuel, ^(A)“How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? ^(B)Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to ^(C)Jesse the Bethlehemite. For ^(D)I have ^[a]provided Myself a king among his sons.”

Disobedience Brings God’s Judgment

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are ^(A)the enemies of the cross of Christ:

⁶ And ^(A)the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and ^(B)He was grieved in His ^(C)heart.

^2 (A)that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. ³ For ^(B)I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my ^[a]countrymen according to the flesh,
