19 But when the young officers from the provinces and the army that was with them marched out, 20 each of them killed his opponent. Then the Arameans fled, and Israel pursued them. Ben Hadad king of Aram fled on a horse with his charioteers.[a]
21 The king of Israel marched out and attacked the horses and chariots. He inflicted a great defeat on Aram.

- 1 Kings 20:20 An interesting translation issue is at what point of history we can translate the Hebrew word parosh as horsemen or cavalry rather than charioteers. At about the time of this text, Assyrian reliefs begin to picture riders shooting bows from horseback, but it seems clear that this battle was fought by chariots not cavalry, though some survivors may have fled on horseback.
