³ Do your duty to the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to ^[a]keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, ^(A)according to what is written in the Law of Moses, so that ^(B)you may succeed in all that you do and wherever you turn,

⁴ As for you, ^(A)if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and honesty, acting in accordance with everything that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My ordinances,

⁴ For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away ^[a]to follow other gods; and ^(A)his heart was not ^[b]wholly devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of his father David had been.

⁶ So Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not follow the Lord fully, as his father David had done.

³⁸ Then it shall be, that if you listen to all that I command you and walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight by keeping My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then ^(A)I will be with you and ^(B)build you an enduring house as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.
