¹⁶ and ^(A)Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and ^(B)Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. ¹⁷ It shall come about, the ^(C)one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu ^(D)shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.

Jehoram (Joram) Is Assassinated

¹⁴ So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. ^(A)Now Joram ^[a]with all Israel was ^[b]defending Ramoth-gilead against Hazael king of Aram,

²⁰ The watchman ^[a]reported, “He came even to them, and he did not return; and ^(A)the driving is like the driving of ^(B)Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”
