^21 (A)Then he stretched himself out over the boy three times, and called to the Lord and said, “Lord, my God, please, let this boy’s life return ^[a]to him.” ²² And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah, ^(B)and the life of the boy returned ^[b]to him and he revived. ²³ Elijah then took the boy and brought him down from the upstairs room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, “See, your son is alive.” ²⁴ Then the woman said to Elijah, “^(C)Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”

Elijah’s Prayer

³⁶ Then ^(A)at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached and said, “^(B)Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that ^(C)You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that ^(D)I have done all these things at Your word. ³⁷ Answer me, Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that You, Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back.”
