²⁴ He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents^[a] of silver and built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria,^(A) after Shemer, the name of the former owner of the hill.

²⁸ Omri rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria.^(A) And Ahab his son succeeded him as king.

Ben-Hadad Attacks Samaria

20 Now Ben-Hadad^(A) king of Aram mustered his entire army. Accompanied by thirty-two kings with their horses and chariots, he went up and besieged Samaria^(B) and attacked it.

Ahab’s Family Killed

10 Now there were in Samaria^(A) seventy sons^(B) of the house of Ahab. So Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria: to the officials of Jezreel,^[a](C) to the elders and to the guardians^(D) of Ahab’s children. He said,
