²⁶ And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and ^(A)walked in the way of his father and ^(B)in his sin which he made Israel sin. ²⁷ Then ^(C)Baasha the son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against him, and Baasha struck him down at ^(D)Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, while Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.

²⁸ So Baasha put him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah and became king in his place.
