³⁸ So Zadok^(A) the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites^(B) and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon mount King David’s mule, and they escorted him to Gihon.^(C)

³⁰ It was Hezekiah who blocked^(A) the upper outlet of the Gihon^(B) spring and channeled^(C) the water down to the west side of the City of David. He succeeded in everything he undertook.

¹⁴ Afterward he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, west of the Gihon^(A) spring in the valley, as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate^(B) and encircling the hill of Ophel;^(C) he also made it much higher. He stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah.
