⁵ Of all my sons—and the Lord has given me many^(A)—he has chosen my son Solomon^(B) to sit on the throne^(C) of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. ⁶ He said to me: ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build^(D) my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son,^(E) and I will be his father.

⁶ being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion^(A) until the day of Christ Jesus.^(B)

²¹ being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.^(A)

¹⁴ I will put my Spirit^(A) in you and you will live, and I will settle^(B) you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.^(C)’”

²⁵ But I the Lord will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay.^(A) For in your days, you rebellious people, I will fulfill^(B) whatever I say, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(C)’”
