^15 (A)Solomon had seventy thousand who carried burdens, and eighty thousand who quarried stone in the mountains,

^20 (A)All the people who were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel— ²¹ that is, their descendants ^(B)who were left in the land after them, ^(C)whom the children of Israel had not been able to destroy completely—^(D)from these Solomon raised ^(E)forced labor, as it is to this day. ²² But of the children of Israel Solomon ^(F)made no forced laborers, because they were men of war and his servants: his officers, his captains, commanders of his chariots, and his cavalry.

^17 (A)Then Solomon numbered all the aliens who were in the land of Israel, after the census in which ^(B)David his father had numbered them; and there were found to be one hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred. ¹⁸ And he made ^(C)seventy thousand of them bearers of burdens, eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred overseers to make the people work.

⁵⁸ All the ^(A)Nethinim and the children of ^(B)Solomon’s servants were three hundred and ninety-two.

^7 (A)All the people who were left of the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who were not of Israel— ⁸ that is, their descendants who were left in the land after them, whom the children of Israel did not destroy—from these Solomon raised forced labor, as it is to this day. ⁹ But Solomon did not make the children of Israel ^[a]servants for his work. Some were men of war, captains of his officers, captains of his chariots, and his cavalry.
