⁵² Then Solomon said, “If he proves himself a worthy man, ^(A)not one hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.”

⁴⁵ But the people said to Saul, “Shall Jonathan die, who has accomplished this great deliverance in Israel? Certainly not! ^(A)As the Lord lives, not one hair of his head shall fall to the ground, for he has worked ^(B)with God this day.” So the people rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.

¹¹ Then she said, “Please let the king remember the Lord your God, and do not permit ^(A)the avenger of blood to destroy anymore, lest they destroy my son.”

And he said, ^(B)“As the Lord lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground.”

²¹ So she said, “Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother as wife.”

²² And King Solomon answered and said to his mother, “Now why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also—for he is my ^(A)older brother—for him, and for ^(B)Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.” ²³ Then King Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, ^(C)“May God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life! ²⁴ Now therefore, as the Lord lives, who has confirmed me and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has established a ^[a]house for me, as He ^(D)promised, Adonijah shall be put to death today!”

²⁵ So King Solomon sent by the hand of ^(E)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he struck him down, and he died.

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, ^(A)since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.”

^18 (A)But not a hair of your head shall be lost.

^30 (A)But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
