Do Not Love the World

^15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world—^(C)the desires of the flesh and ^(D)the desires of the eyes and pride of life^[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world.

²⁶ people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For ^(A)the powers of the heavens will be shaken. ²⁷ And then they will see ^(B)the Son of Man coming in a cloud ^(C)with power and great glory. ²⁸ Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and ^(D)raise your heads, because ^(E)your redemption is drawing near.”
