11 Dar cine urăşte pe fratele său este în întuneric, umblă(A) în întuneric şi nu ştie încotro merge, pentru că întunericul i-a orbit ochii. 12 Vă scriu, copilaşilor, fiindcă păcatele(B) vă sunt iertate pentru Numele Lui. 13 Vă scriu, părinţilor, fiindcă aţi cunoscut pe Cel ce este de la(C) început. Vă scriu, tinerilor, fiindcă aţi biruit pe cel rău. V-am scris, copilaşilor, fiindcă aţi cunoscut pe Tatăl.
