Laatste richtlijnen
16 Volg voor de collecte voor de arme gelovigen de richtlijnen die ik de gemeenten van Galatië heb gegeven. 2 Die komen hierop neer, dat ieder van u elke zondag iets opzij moet leggen van wat hij heeft verdiend. Bewaar het tot ik bij u kom. 3 Dan ligt het geld tenminste klaar en kan ik de mannen die u daarvoor aanwijst, deze gift naar Jeruzalem laten brengen. Ik zal hun enkele aanbevelingsbrieven meegeven, 4 maar het kan ook zijn dat ik het de moeite waard vind zélf met hen mee te gaan. 5 Nadat ik in Macedonië ben geweest, kom ik bij u. Want ik wil eerst naar Macedonië gaan 6 en daarna een tijdje bij u blijven, misschien wel de hele winter. In dat geval kunt u mij meegeven wat ik voor mijn volgende reis nodig heb, al weet ik nu nog niet waar ik naar toe zal gaan. 7 Deze keer wil ik niet alleen maar even bij u aankomen. Ik zou graag wat langer blijven als de Here het goed vindt. 8 Ik blijf echter nog tot Pinksteren in Efeze, 9 want hier liggen geweldige kansen om voor de Here te werken, al is de tegenstand ook niet gering.
10 Als Timotheüs bij u komt, schrik hem dan niet af. Laat hij zich bij u thuisvoelen, want hij werkt net zo goed voor de Here als ik. 11 Kijk niet op hem neer, maar help hem goed op weg, zodat hij naar mij toe kan komen. De broeders en ik kijken echt naar hem uit.
12 Ik heb onze broeder Apollos dringend gevraagd met de andere broeders naar u toe te gaan. Maar hij wilde nu niet. Als hij later in de gelegenheid is, zal hij zeker komen.
13 Wees op uw hoede, houd stand in het geloof, wees moedig en sterk. 14 Wat u ook doet, doe het uit liefde. 15 U kent Stefanas en zijn gezin wel. Zij waren de eersten in Achaje die gelovig werden en zetten zich volledig voor hun medegelovigen in. 16 Ik wil graag dat u zich door hen laat leiden en door allen die zich voor u inspannen.
17 Ik ben heel blij dat Stefanas, Fortunatas en Achaïcus hier zijn gekomen. Nu mis ik u niet meer zo erg. 18 Zij hebben mij gerustgesteld en bemoedigd en u ook, natuurlijk. U moet zulke mannen waarderen.
19 Alle gemeenten in Asia groeten u. Ook van Aquila en Prisca en de gemeente die in hun huis samenkomt, wil ik de hartelijke, christelijke groeten overbrengen. 20 Alle broeders en zusters groeten u. Groet elkaar broederlijk, warm en hartelijk.
21 De laatste groet schrijf ik zelf. 22 Als iemand de Here niet liefheeft, is hij vervloekt. De Here Jezus komt terug! 23 Ik wens u de genade van de Here Jezus toe. 24 Mijn hart gaat uit naar u allen die bij Christus Jezus horen.

The Collection for the Lord’s People
16 Now about the collection(A) for the Lord’s people:(B) Do what I told the Galatian(C) churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week,(D) each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.(E) 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve(F) and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
Personal Requests
5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you(G)—for I will be going through Macedonia.(H) 6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey,(I) wherever I go. 7 For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.(J) 8 But I will stay on at Ephesus(K) until Pentecost,(L) 9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me,(M) and there are many who oppose me.
10 When Timothy(N) comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord,(O) just as I am. 11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt.(P) Send him on his way(Q) in peace(R) so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
12 Now about our brother Apollos:(S) I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
13 Be on your guard; stand firm(T) in the faith; be courageous; be strong.(U) 14 Do everything in love.(V)
15 You know that the household of Stephanas(W) were the first converts(X) in Achaia,(Y) and they have devoted themselves to the service(Z) of the Lord’s people.(AA) I urge you, brothers and sisters, 16 to submit(AB) to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it. 17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.(AC) 18 For they refreshed(AD) my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.(AE)
Final Greetings
19 The churches in the province of Asia(AF) send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla[a](AG) greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.(AH) 20 All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.(AI)
21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.(AJ)
22 If anyone does not love the Lord,(AK) let that person be cursed!(AL) Come, Lord[b]!(AM)
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.(AN)
