2 For the one speaking in a tongue is not speaking[a] to people, but to God— for no one hears[b], but he speaks mysteries[c] with his spirit[d]. 3 But the one prophesying is speaking edification and exhortation and consolation[e] to people. 4 The one speaking in a tongue is edifying himself [f], but the one prophesying is edifying the church.
