^5 (A)I will visit you after passing through ^(B)Macedonia, for ^(C)I intend to pass through Macedonia,

A Riot at Ephesus

²¹ Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit ^(A)to pass through ^(B)Macedonia and Achaia and ^(C)go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, ^(D)I must also see Rome.”

¹⁹ But ^(A)I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power.

¹⁵ Because I was sure of this, ^(A)I wanted to come to you first, so that you might have ^(B)a second ^(C)experience of grace. ¹⁶ I wanted to visit you ^(D)on my way to Macedonia, and to come back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on my way to Judea. ¹⁷ Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans ^(E)according to the flesh, ready to say “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time?

Paul in Macedonia and Greece

20 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and ^(A)departed for Macedonia. ² When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece. ³ There he spent three months, and when ^(B)a plot was made against him by the Jews^[a] as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.
