²⁵And their brethren in their villages had to come with them from time to time ^(A)for seven days. ²⁶For in this trusted office were four chief gatekeepers; they were Levites. And they had charge over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God. ²⁷And they lodged all around the house of God because ^[a]they had the ^(B)responsibility, and they were in charge of opening it every morning.

²⁵Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day^(A) periods. ²⁶But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries^(B) in the house of God. ²⁷They would spend the night stationed around the house of God,^(C) because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key^(D) for opening it each morning.
