8 and Bela, son of Azaz, son of Shema, son of Joel. The Reubenites lived in Aroer and as far as Nebo and Baal-meon;(A) 9 toward the east they dwelt as far as the wilderness which extends from the Euphrates River, for they had much livestock in the land of Gilead.(B) 10 In Saul’s time they waged war with the Hagrites, and when they had defeated them they dwelt in their tents throughout the region east of Gilead.(C)

8 and Bela the son of Azaz, son of (A)Shema, son of Joel, who lived in (B)Aroer, as far as (C)Nebo and (D)Baal-meon. 9 He also lived to the east as far as the entrance of the desert this side of the Euphrates, because their livestock had multiplied (E)in the land of Gilead. 10 And in the days of Saul they waged war against the (F)Hagrites, who fell into their hand. And they lived in their tents throughout all the region east of Gilead.
