David Conquers the Philistines
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he marched out to meet them. 9 The Philistines arrived and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10 So David asked God, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”
The Lord replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you.”

8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. But David heard of it and went out against them. 9 Now the Philistines had come and (A)made a raid in the (B)Valley of Rephaim. 10 And David inquired of God, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up, and I will give them into your hand.”

8 Filistenii au auzit că David(A) fusese uns împărat peste tot Israelul şi s-au suit cu toţii să-l caute. David a fost înştiinţat de acest lucru şi le-a ieşit înainte. 9 Filistenii au venit şi s-au răspândit în valea(B) refaimiţilor. 10 David a întrebat pe Dumnezeu zicând: „Să mă sui împotriva filistenilor, şi îi vei da în mâinile mele?” Şi Domnul i-a zis: „Suie-te şi-i voi da în mâinile tale.”
