8 He built up the city around it, from the terrace to the surrounding walls;[a] Joab restored the rest of the city. 9 David’s power steadily grew, for the Lord of Heaven’s Armies was with him.[b]
David’s Warriors
10 These were the leaders of David’s warriors who, together with all Israel, stood courageously with him in his kingdom by installing him as king, in keeping with the Lord’s message concerning Israel.

8 He built up the city around it, from the terraces[a](A) to the surrounding wall, while Joab restored the rest of the city. 9 And David became more and more powerful,(B) because the Lord Almighty was with him.

10 These were the chiefs of David’s mighty warriors—they, together with all Israel,(D) gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the Lord had promised(E)—
