²³ Araunah said to David, “Take it! Let my lord the king do whatever pleases him. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering. I will give all this.”

²² Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen^(A) for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. ²³ Your Majesty, Araunah^[a] gives^(B) all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.”

¹⁴ The cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and there it stopped beside a large rock. The people chopped up the wood of the cart and sacrificed the cows as a burnt offering^(A) to the Lord.

⁴ “I am a foreigner and stranger^(A) among you. Sell me some property for a burial site here so I can bury my dead.^(B)”

⁵ The Hittites replied to Abraham, ⁶ “Sir, listen to us. You are a mighty prince^(C) among us. Bury your dead in the choicest of our tombs. None of us will refuse you his tomb for burying your dead.”

⁸ “Then, just as the Lord had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard and said, ‘Buy my field^(A) at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. Since it is your right to redeem it and possess it, buy it for yourself.’

“I knew that this was the word of the Lord;

²¹ So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen^(A) and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.^(B)
