¹³ Then Samuel took ^(A)the horn of oil ^(B)and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. ^(C)And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

⁴ And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David ^(A)king over the house of Judah.

When they told David, ^(B)“It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul”,

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, ^(A)and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron ^(B)before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
