The Call of Levi
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office,(A) and he said to him, “Follow me.” 28 So, leaving everything behind, he got up and began to follow him.
29 Then Levi hosted a grand banquet for him at his house. Now there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining at the table with them.(B) 30 But the Pharisees and their scribes(C) were complaining to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
31 Jesus replied to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

8 This grace was given to me—the least of all the saints—to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches(A) of Christ, 9 and to shed light for all about the administration of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created(B) all things. 10 This is so that God’s multi-faceted wisdom(C) may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens.(D) 11 This is according to his eternal purpose(E) accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In him we have boldness and confident access(F) through faith in him.[a] 13 So, then, I ask you not to be discouraged(G) over my afflictions on your behalf, for they are your glory.(H)

9 What does the worker gain from his struggles?(I) 10 I have seen the task that God has given the children of Adam to keep them occupied.(J) 11 He has made everything appropriate[b] in its time.(K) He has also put eternity in their hearts,[c] but no one can discover the work God has done from beginning to end.(L) 12 I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the[d] good life. 13 It is also the gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.(M) 14 I know that everything God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it.(N) God works so that people will be in awe of him.(O) 15 Whatever is, has already been,(P) and whatever will be, already is.
