يَسُوعُ يَغْسِلُ أقْدَامَ التَّلَامِيذ
13 كَانَ عِيدُ الفِصْحِ قَرِيبًا. وَكَانَ يَسُوعُ يَعْرِفُ أنَّ الوَقْتَ قَدْ حَانَ لِيُغَادِرَ هَذَا العَالَمَ وَيَذْهَبَ إلَى الآبِ. وَإذْ كَانَ قَدْ أَظْهَرَ مَحَبَّتَهُ لِأُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا لَهُ فِي العَالَمِ، أرَادَ الآنَ أنْ يُظهِرَهَا فِي أقصَاهَا.
2 كَانُوا يَتَعَشَّوْنَ، وَكَانَ إبْلِيسُ قَدْ وَضَعَ فِي ذِهنِ يَهُوذَا بْنِ سِمعَانَ الإسْخَريُوطِيِّ أنْ يَخُونَ يَسُوعَ. 3 وَمَعَ أنَّ يَسُوعَ كَانَ يَعْلَمُ أنَّ الآبَ قَدْ أعطَاهُ سُلطَانًا عَلَى كُلِّ شَيءٍ، وَأنَّهُ جَاءَ مِنَ اللهِ وَأنَّهُ رَاجِعٌ إلَيْهِ، 4 قَامَ عَنِ العَشَاءِ، وَخَلَعَ رِدَاءَهُ. ثُمَّ أخَذَ مِنشَفَةً وَرَبَطَهَا حَوْلَ خَصْرِهِ. 5 ثُمَّ سَكَبَ مَاءً فِي وِعَاءٍ لِلَاغتِسَالِ. وَبَدَأ يَغْسِلُ أقْدَامَ التَّلَامِيذِ وَيَمْسَحُهَا بِالمِنشَفَةِ المَربُوطَةِ حَوْلَ خَصْرِهِ.
6 وَعِنْدَمَا جَاءَ إلَى سِمعَانَ بُطْرُسَ، قَالَ بُطرُسُ لِيَسُوعَ: «هَلْ سَتَغْسِلُ أنْتَ يَا رَبُّ قَدَمَيَّ؟»
7 فَأجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «أنْتَ لَا تَفْهَمُ الآنَ مَا أفْعَلُ، لَكِنَّكَ سَتَفْهَمُ فِيمَا بَعْدُ.»
8 فَقَالَ بُطرُسُ: «لَنْ تَغْسِلَ قَدَمَيَّ أبَدًا!» فَأجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «إنْ لَمْ أغسِلْكَ، فَلَا مَكَانَ لَكَ مَعِي.»
9 قَالَ لَهُ سِمْعَانُ بُطرُسُ: «إذًا لَا تَغْسِلْ قَدَمَيَّ فَقَطْ يَا رَبُّ، بَلْ يَدَيَّ وَرَأسِي أيْضًا!»
10 فَقَالَ يَسُوعُ: «مَنِ استَحَمَّ فَهُوَ طَاهِرٌ كُلُّهُ، وَلَا يَحتَاجُ أنْ يَغْسِلَ إلَّا قَدَمَيهِ. وَأنْتُمْ طَاهِرُونَ، وَلَكِنْ لَيْسَ كُلُّكُمْ.» 11 فَلِأنَّهُ عَرَفَ الَّذِي سَيَخُونُهُ قَالَ: «لَسْتُمْ كُلُّكُمْ طَاهِرِينَ.»
12 وَلَمَّا انْتَهَى مِنْ غَسلِ أقْدَامِهِمْ، لَبِسَ رِدَاءَهُ، وَاتَّكَأ ثَانِيَةً وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «هَلْ تَفْهَمُونَ مَا فَعَلْتُهُ لَكُمْ؟ 13 أنْتُمْ تَدْعُونَنِي مُعَلِّمًا وَسَيِّدًا، وَأنْتُمْ مُصِيبُونَ لِأنَّنِي كَذَلِكَ. 14 فَمَا دُمتُ وَأنَا المُعَلِّمُ وَالسَّيِّدُ قَدْ غَسَلْتُ أقْدَامَكُمْ، فَعَلَيكُمْ أنْ تَغْسِلُوا بَعْضُكُمْ أقْدَامَ بَعْضٍ. 15 لَقَدْ أرَيتُكُمْ مِثَالًا لِكَي تَفْعَلُوا لِلآخَرِينَ مَا فَعَلْتُهُ لَكُمْ. 16 أقُولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ: مَا مِنْ عَبدٍ أعْظَمُ مِنْ سَيِّدِهِ، وَمَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ أعْظَمُ مِنَ الَّذِي أرسَلَهُ. 17 فَمَا دُمتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ هَذِهِ الأشْيَاءَ، فَهَنِيئًا لَكُمْ إذَا مَا عَمِلْتُمْ بِهَا.»
18 «أنَا لَا أقصِدُكُمْ جَمِيعًا بِحَدِيثِي هَذَا، فَأنَا أعْرِفُ الَّذِينَ اختَرْتُهُمْ. لَكِنْ لَا بُدَّ أنْ يَتَحَقَّقَ مَا قَالَهُ الكِتَابُ:
‹الَّذِي أكَلَ خُبْزِي انقَلَبَ ضِدِّي.[a]›
19 «هَا أنَا أُخبِرُكُمْ بِهَذَا الآنَ قَبْلَ أنْ يَحْدُثَ. وَذَلِكَ لِكَي تُؤمِنُوا حِينَ يَحْدُثُ أنِّي أنَا هُوَ.[b] 20 أقُولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ: مَنْ يُرَحِّبُ بِمَنْ أُرسِلُهُ، فَإنَّهُ يُرَحِّبُ بِي. وَمَنْ يُرَحِّبُ بِي، فَإنَّهُ يُرَحِّبُ بِالَّذِي أرْسَلَنِي.»
يَسُوعُ يُنْبِئُ بِأنَّ أحَدَ تَلَامِيذِهِ سَيَخُونُه

21 وَبَعْدَ أنْ قَالَ يَسُوعُ هَذَا، شَعَرَ بِضِيقٍ شَدِيدٍ وَقَالَ بِوُضُوحٍ: «أقُولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ: سَيَخُونُنِي وَاحِدٌ مِنْكُمْ.»
22 فَأخَذَ تَلَامِيذُهُ يَتَبَادَلُونَ النَّظَرَاتِ مُتَحَيِّرِينَ فِي مَنْ قَصَدَهُ بِكَلَامِهِ. 23 وَكَانَ أحَدُ تَلَامِيذِ يَسُوعَ مُتَّكِئًا قُربَهُ، وَهُوَ التِّلمِيذُ الَّذِي يُحِبُّهُ يَسُوعُ. 24 فَأشَارَ إلَيْهِ سِمْعَانُ بُطرُسُ لِيَسألَ يَسُوعَ عَنِ المَقصُودِ بِكَلَامِهِ.
25 فَمَالَ ذَلِكَ التِّلمِيذُ عَلَى صَدرِ يَسُوعَ وَسَألَهُ: «مَنْ هُوَ يَا سَيِّدُ؟»
26 فَأجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «هُوَ الَّذِي أُعْطِيهِ قِطْعَةَ الخُبْزِ الَّتِي أغْمِسُهَا.» فَغَمَسَ يَسُوعُ قِطْعَةَ الخُبْزِ فِي الطَّبَقِ، وَأخَذَهَا وَأعْطَاهَا لِيَهُوذَا بْنِ سِمعَانَ الإسْخَريُوطِيِّ. 27 وَبَعْدَ أنْ أكَلَ يَهُوذَا قِطْعَةَ الخُبْزِ، دَخَلَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ. فَقَالَ يَسُوعُ لِيَهُوذَا: «أسرِعْ فَافْعَلْ مَا سَتَفْعَلُهُ.» 28 وَلَمْ يَفْهَمْ أحَدٌ مِنَ المُتَّكِئِينَ لِمَاذَا قَالَ يَسُوعُ هَذَا لَهُ. 29 فَقَدْ كَانَ صُندُوقُ المَالِ مَعَ يَهُوذَا، فَظَنَّ بَعْضُهُمْ أنَّ يَسُوعَ قَالَ لَهُ: «اشْتَرِ مَا نَحتَاجُ إلَيْهِ لِلعِيدِ.» أوْ ظَنُّوا أنَّهُ طَلَبَ مِنْهُ أنْ يُعطِيَ شَيْئًا لِلفُقَرَاءِ.
30 وَهَكَذَا أكَلَ يَهُوذَا قِطْعَةَ الخُبْزِ وَخَرَجَ فَوْرًا. وَكَانَ الوَقْتُ لَيْلًا.
يَسُوعُ يَتَحَدَّثُ عَنْ مَوْتِه
31 وَبَعْدَ أنْ غَادَرَ يَهُوذَا، قَالَ يَسُوعُ: «الآنَ تَمَجَّدَ ابْنُ الإنْسَانِ، وَتَمَجَّدَ اللهُ فِيهِ. 32 وَمَا دَامَ اللهُ قَدْ تَمَجَّدَ فِيهِ، فَسَيُمَجِّدُهُ اللهُ فِي ذَاتِهِ، وَسَيَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ سَرِيعًا.
33 «يَا أبنَائِي، سَأبقَى مَعَكُمْ فَترَةً قَصِيرَةً بَعْدُ، وَسَتَبْحَثُونَ عَنِّي. وَمَا قُلْتُهُ لِليَهُودِ أقُولُهُ الآنَ لَكُمْ: لَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ أنْ تَأْتُوا إلَى حَيْثُ أنَا ذَاهِبٌ. 34 لِهَذَا هَا أنَا أُعْطِيكُمْ وَصِيَّةً جَدِيدَةً، وَهِيَ أنْ تُحِبُّوا بَعْضَكُمْ بَعْضًا كَمَا أحبَبْتُكُمْ أنَا. 35 أظهِرُوا مَحَبَّةً بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ. فَبِهَذَا سَيَعْرِفُ الجَمِيعُ أنَّكُمْ تَلَامِيِّذِي.»
يَسُوعُ يُنبِئُ بِإنكَارِ بُطْرُسَ لَه
(مَتَّى 26:31-35؛ مَرْقُس 14:27-31؛ لُوقَا 22:31-34)
36 فَقَالَ لَهُ سِمْعَانُ بُطْرُسُ: «إلَى أيْنَ أنْتَ ذَاهِبٌ يَا ربُّ؟»
فأجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «لَا تَقْدِرُ أنْ تَتْبَعَنِي الآنَ إلَى حيثُ أنَا ذَاهِبٌ، لكنَّكَ ستَتْبَعُنِي فِيمَا بَعْدُ.»
37 فَقَالَ لَهُ بُطْرُسُ: «لمِاذَا لَا أقدِرُ أنْ أتبَعَكَ الآنَ يَا رَبُّ؟ فأنَا مُسْتَعِدٌ أنْ أُضَحِّيَ بِحيَاتِي مِنْ أجْلِكَ!»
38 أجَابَ يَسوعُ: «هلْ أنْتَ مُسْتَعِدٌ حَقًّا أنْ تُضَحِّيَ بِحيَاتِكَ مِنْ أجْلِي؟ أقُولُ لكَ الحَقَّ: قَبْلَ أنْ يَصِيحَ الدِّيكُ، سَتَكُونُ قدْ أنكَرتَنِي ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ!»

La lavanda dei piedi
13 Prima della festa di Pasqua Gesù, sapendo che era giunta la sua ora di passare da questo mondo al Padre, dopo aver amato i suoi che erano nel mondo, li amò sino alla fine. 2 Mentre cenavano, quando gia il diavolo aveva messo in cuore a Giuda Iscariota, figlio di Simone, di tradirlo, 3 Gesù sapendo che il Padre gli aveva dato tutto nelle mani e che era venuto da Dio e a Dio ritornava, 4 si alzò da tavola, depose le vesti e, preso un asciugatoio, se lo cinse attorno alla vita. 5 Poi versò dell'acqua nel catino e cominciò a lavare i piedi dei discepoli e ad asciugarli con l'asciugatoio di cui si era cinto. 6 Venne dunque da Simon Pietro e questi gli disse: «Signore, tu lavi i piedi a me?». 7 Rispose Gesù: «Quello che io faccio, tu ora non lo capisci, ma lo capirai dopo». 8 Gli disse Simon Pietro: «Non mi laverai mai i piedi!». Gli rispose Gesù: «Se non ti laverò, non avrai parte con me». 9 Gli disse Simon Pietro: «Signore, non solo i piedi, ma anche le mani e il capo!». 10 Soggiunse Gesù: «Chi ha fatto il bagno, non ha bisogno di lavarsi se non i piedi ed è tutto mondo; e voi siete mondi, ma non tutti». 11 Sapeva infatti chi lo tradiva; per questo disse: «Non tutti siete mondi».
12 Quando dunque ebbe lavato loro i piedi e riprese le vesti, sedette di nuovo e disse loro: «Sapete ciò che vi ho fatto? 13 Voi mi chiamate Maestro e Signore e dite bene, perché lo sono. 14 Se dunque io, il Signore e il Maestro, ho lavato i vostri piedi, anche voi dovete lavarvi i piedi gli uni gli altri. 15 Vi ho dato infatti l'esempio, perché come ho fatto io, facciate anche voi. 16 In verità, in verità vi dico: un servo non è più grande del suo padrone, né un apostolo è più grande di chi lo ha mandato. 17 Sapendo queste cose, sarete beati se le metterete in pratica. 18 Non parlo di tutti voi; io conosco quelli che ho scelto; ma si deve adempiere la Scrittura: Colui che mangia il pane con me, ha levato contro di me il suo calcagno. 19 Ve lo dico fin d'ora, prima che accada, perché, quando sarà avvenuto, crediate che Io Sono. 20 In verità, in verità vi dico: Chi accoglie colui che io manderò, accoglie me; chi accoglie me, accoglie colui che mi ha mandato».
Annunzio del tradimento di Giuda
21 Dette queste cose, Gesù si commosse profondamente e dichiarò: «In verità, in verità vi dico: uno di voi mi tradirà». 22 I discepoli si guardarono gli uni gli altri, non sapendo di chi parlasse. 23 Ora uno dei discepoli, quello che Gesù amava, si trovava a tavola al fianco di Gesù. 24 Simon Pietro gli fece un cenno e gli disse: «Dì, chi è colui a cui si riferisce?». 25 Ed egli reclinandosi così sul petto di Gesù, gli disse: «Signore, chi è?». 26 Rispose allora Gesù: «E' colui per il quale intingerò un boccone e glielo darò». E intinto il boccone, lo prese e lo diede a Giuda Iscariota, figlio di Simone. 27 E allora, dopo quel boccone, satana entrò in lui. Gesù quindi gli disse: «Quello che devi fare fallo al più presto». 28 Nessuno dei commensali capì perché gli aveva detto questo; 29 alcuni infatti pensavano che, tenendo Giuda la cassa, Gesù gli avesse detto: «Compra quello che ci occorre per la festa», oppure che dovesse dare qualche cosa ai poveri. 30 Preso il boccone, egli subito uscì. Ed era notte.
L'addio
31 Quand'egli fu uscito, Gesù disse: «Ora il Figlio dell'uomo è stato glorificato, e anche Dio è stato glorificato in lui. 32 Se Dio è stato glorificato in lui, anche Dio lo glorificherà da parte sua e lo glorificherà subito. 33 Figlioli, ancora per poco sono con voi; voi mi cercherete, ma come ho gia detto ai Giudei, lo dico ora anche a voi: dove vado io voi non potete venire. 34 Vi do un comandamento nuovo: che vi amiate gli uni gli altri; come io vi ho amato, così amatevi anche voi gli uni gli altri. 35 Da questo tutti sapranno che siete miei discepoli, se avrete amore gli uni per gli altri».
36 Simon Pietro gli dice: «Signore, dove vai?». Gli rispose Gesù: «Dove io vado per ora tu non puoi seguirmi; mi seguirai più tardi». 37 Pietro disse: «Signore, perché non posso seguirti ora? Darò la mia vita per te!». 38 Rispose Gesù: «Darai la tua vita per me? In verità, in verità ti dico: non canterà il gallo, prima che tu non m'abbia rinnegato tre volte».

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 It was just before the Passover Festival.(A) Jesus knew that the hour had come(B) for him to leave this world and go to the Father.(C) Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(D) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(E) and that he had come from God(F) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(G) 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet,(H) drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”(I)
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean,(J) though not every one of you.”(K) 11 For he knew who was going to betray him,(L) and that was why he said not every one was clean.
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’(M) and ‘Lord,’(N) and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.(O) 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.(P) 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,(Q) nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.(R)
Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
18 “I am not referring to all of you;(S) I know those I have chosen.(T) But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture:(U) ‘He who shared my bread(V) has turned[a](W) against me.’[b](X)
19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe(Y) that I am who I am.(Z) 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”(AA)
21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit(AB) and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.”(AC)
22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved,(AD) was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.”
25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?”(AE)
26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas,(AF) the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.(AG)
So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.” 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money,(AH) some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival,(AI) or to give something to the poor.(AJ) 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.(AK)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(AL)
31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man(AM) is glorified(AN) and God is glorified in him.(AO) 32 If God is glorified in him,[c] God will glorify the Son in himself,(AP) and will glorify him at once.
33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.(AQ)
34 “A new command(AR) I give you: Love one another.(AS) As I have loved you, so you must love one another.(AT) 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”(AU)
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”(AV)
Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now,(AW) but you will follow later.”(AX)
37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!(AY)
