ב אני רוצה שתדעו באיזו דאגה אני מתפלל בעדכם, בעד הקהילה בלודקיא ובעד כל אלה שאינם מכירים אותי אישית. 2 אני מבקש מאלוהים שיעודד, ישמח ויאחד אתכם באהבה רבה איש לרעהו, כדי שתתנסו בחוויה המעשירה שבידיעת סודו של אלוהים, הלא הוא ישוע המשיח עצמו, 3 אשר בו בלבד צפונים כל אוצרות החכמה והדעת.
4 היודעים אתם מדוע אני כותב לכם את כל הדברים האלה? כדי שאיש לא יוכל לרמותכם בדברי-חלקות. 5 אני אמנם רחוק מכם גיאוגרפית, אך לבי אתכם, ואני ממש מאושר לראות את אמונתכם החזקה והיציבה במשיח. 6 לכן, אם אתם מאמינים שהאדון ישוע הוא מושיעכם, שמעו בקולו ושמרו את מצוותיו. 7 השתרשו בו ושאבו כוחכם ממנו, החזיקו באמונה שקיבלתם, והודו לאלוהים על כל מעשיו.
8 היזהרו מהאנשים שמנסים לרמותכם ולהרוס את אמונתכם בפילוסופיות ובתיאוריות מוטעות ושטחיות, שמבוססות על מחשבות אדם ולא על דברי המשיח. 9 כל הטבע האלוהי גלום בגוף המשיח, 10 ואם נקשור את חיינו בחייו, נימלא בכל הדרוש לחיינו הרוחניים. המשיח הוא האדון הנעלה ביותר, ובעל שליטה מוחלטת על כל כוח אחר.
11 כאשר האמנתם במשיח לא עברתם מילה פיזית, אלא מילה רוחנית – המשיח הסיר מעליכם את האופי החוטא שלכם, ואת כל המעשים הרעים שנובעים ממנו. 12 כי הטבע הישן והרע שלכם מת ונקבר עם המשיח כמסומל בטבילתכם, ואתם קמתם מהמוות יחד עם המשיח ונכנסתם לחיים חדשים לגמרי, בזכות אמונתכם בכוחו ובגבורתו של האלוהים אשר הקימו מן המתים. 13 גם אתם הייתם פעם מתים באופן רוחני בגלל חטאיכם, הייתם משועבדים לתאוותיכם ולא נימלתם, אך אלוהים סלח לכל חטאיכם והעניק לכם חלק בחיי המשיח. 14 הוא מחק את כל העדויות המאשימות אותנו באי-קיום חוקי התורה ומצוות ה'. יתר על כן, הוא השמיד את גיליון העדויות המרשיעות בתקעו אותו על צלב המשיח. 15 במעשה זה שלל אלוהים מהשטן את האפשרות להאשימנו בחטא, והציג לראווה לכל העולם את נצחונו של המשיח על הצלב, אשר בו נמחקו כל חטאינו ולא נותר להם זכר.
16 לכן אל תניחו לאיש למתוח עליכם ביקורת על המשקה שאתם שותים, על האוכל שאתם אוכלים, או על ענייני שבתות וחגים, 17 שכן דברים אלה הם משניים, ואילו הם צילו של העתיד לבוא – ישוע המשיח האדון.
18 היזהרו מאנשים שרוצים לרמותכם ולשלול את שכרכם מאלוהים, מאנשים שמתגאים בענוותם ועובדים מלאכים. כל אמונתם מבוססת על "חזיונות" והם מלאי גאווה. 19 אנשים אלה אינם מאמינים בעיקר ובחשוב ביותר – במשיח, שהוא הראש של גוף-המאמינים, וממנו בלבד ניזונים כל איברי הגוף, שגדלים ומתחזקים לפי רצון אלוהים.
20 לכן אם מתם עם המשיח והשתחררתם מדרך המחשבה של העולם, מדוע אתם ממשיכים להשתעבד לחוקים וכללים שהומצאו על-ידי בני-אדם, כגון: 21 אל תאחז בזה, אל תטעם מזה או אל תיגע בזה!? 22 כל אלה מתייחסים לדברים ארעיים, שחולפים ונגמרים לאחר השימוש. 23 חוקים אלה נראים מחוכמים בעיני אנשים שמעמידים פנים כאילו שהם משרתים את אלוהים – אלה שמתפארים בצניעותם והגאים בעובדה שהם מייסרים את גופם. אולם למעשה אין כל תועלת במעשים אלה; הם רק מוסיפים לגאוות האדם, ואינם מביאים כבוד לאלוהים.

2 فَأنَا أُرِيدُكُمْ أنْ تَعْلَمُوا أنِّي أُكَافِحُ مِنْ أجْلِكُمْ، وَمِنْ أجْلِ المُؤمِنِينَ فِي لَاوُدِكِيَّةَ، وَحَتَّى مِنْ أجْلِ جَمِيعِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَابِلُونِي. 2 أقُولُ هَذَا حَتَّى يَتَشَجَّعُوا وَيَتَّحِدُوا مَعًا فِي المَحَبَّةِ. عِنْدَئِذٍ سَتَكُونُ عُقُولُهُمْ وَاثِقَةً بِفَضْلِ فَهمِهَا الكَامِلِ لِلمَسِيحِ، الَّذِي هُوَ سِرُّ اللهِ العَمِيقِ. 3 فَكُلُّ كُنُوزِ الحِكْمَةِ وَالمَعْرِفَةِ مَخزُونَةٌ فِي المَسِيحِ. 4 أقُولُ هَذَا لِئَلَّا يَخْدَعَكُمْ أحَدٌ بِحُجَجٍ زَائِفَةٍ تَبدُو مَقبُولَةً فِي ظَاهِرِهَا. 5 فَمَعَ أنِّي غَائِبٌ عَنْكُمْ فِي الجَسَدِ، إلَّا أنِّي حَاضِرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ بِرُوحِي. وَأفرَحُ إذْ أرَى التَّرتِيبَ فِي حَيَاتِكُمْ، وَصَلَابَةَ إيمَانِكُمْ بِالمَسِيحِ.
الحَيَاةُ فِي المَسِيح
6 فَمَا دُمتُمْ قَبِلْتُمُ المَسِيحَ يَسُوعَ الرَّبَّ، عِيشُوا حَيَاتَكُمْ فِيهِ. 7 فَثَبِّتُوا فِيهِ جُذُورَكُمْ، وَاجعَلُوهُ أسَاسَ حَيَاتِكُمْ، وَتَقَوُّوا فِي إيمَانِكُمْ فِيهِ كَمَا تَعَلَّمتُمْ، وَلْتَفِضْ حَيَاتُكُمْ بِالشُّكرِ للهِ.
8 انتَبِهُوا لِئَلَّا يُضَلِّلَكُمْ أحَدٌ بِالفَلسَفَةِ وَبِتَعَالِيمَ خَادِعَةٍ فَارِغَةٍ هِيَ مِنْ تَقَالِيدِ النَّاسِ، وَمِنَ القُوَى المُسَيطِرَةِ عَلَى هَذَا العَالَمِ. فَهَذَا لَا يَتَّفِقُ مَعَ المَسِيحِ وَتَعَالِيمِهِ. 9 فَفِي المَسِيحِ يَحِلُّ اللهُ بِكُلِّ أُلوهِيَّتِهِ. 10 وَأنْتُمْ صِرتُمْ كَامِلِينَ فِي المَسِيحِ الَّذِي هُوَ فَوْقَ كُلِّ قُوَّةٍ وَسُلطَانٍ. 11 لَقَدْ خُتِنْتُمْ فِي المَسِيحِ خِتَانًا غَيْرَ جَسَدِيٍّ عِنْدَمَا حَرَّرَكُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةِ الطَّبِيعَةِ الجَسَدِيَّةِ، فَهَذَا هُوَ الخِتَانُ الَّذِي يُجرِيهِ المَسِيحُ. 12 فَقَدْ دُفِنتُمْ مَعَهُ فِي المَعمُودِيَّةِ، وَقُمتُمْ أيْضًا مَعَهُ، إذْ آمَنتُمْ بِقُدرَةِ اللهِ الَّذِي أقَامَ المَسِيحَ مِنَ المَوْتِ.
13 كُنْتُمْ فِيمَا مَضَى أمْوَاتًا فِي خَطَايَاكُمْ، وَلَمْ تَكُونُوا قَدْ تَطَهَّرْتُمْ بَعْدُ، لَكِنَّهُ أحيَاكُمْ مَعَ المَسِيحِ. فَقَدْ غَفَرَ لَنَا جَمِيعَ خَطَايَانَا، 14 وَألغَى وَثِيقَةَ الدَّينِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ ضِدَّنَا، فَأزَالَهَا مِنْ طَرِيقِنَا بِتَسْمِيرِهَا عَلَى الصَّلِيبِ، 15 إذْ جَرَّدَ ذَوِي القُوَّةِ وَالسُلطَةِ فِي العَالَمِ الرُّوحِيِّ مِنْ أسلِحَتِهِمْ، وَأظْهَرَ هَزيمَتَهُمْ أمَامَ العَالَمِ، مُنتَصِرًا عَلَيْهِمْ بِالصَّلِيبِ.
فَرَائضُ النَّاس
16 فَلَا تَسْمَحُوا لِأحَدٍ بِأنْ يُجبِرَكُمْ عَلَى شَيءٍ فِي مَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِطَعَامٍ أوْ شَرَابٍ أوْ عِيدٍ أوْ هِلَالٍ[a] أوْ سَبْتٍ. 17 فَمَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ إلَّا ظِلًّا لِمَا سَيَأْتِي، أمَّا الأصلُ فَهُوَ المَسِيحُ. 18 فَلَا تَسْمَحُوا لأحَدٍ بِحِرمَانِكُمْ مِنَ مُكَافَأتِكُمْ، بِسَبَبِ رَغْبَتِهِ بِالتَّذَلُّلِ وعِبَادَةِ المَلَائِكَةِ. يَتَحَدَّثُّ عَنْ رُؤَىً رَآهَا، بَيْنَمَا يَنْتَفِخُ بِغَبَاءٍ بِأفكَارِهِ الجَسَدِيَّةِ، 19 غَيْرَ مُتَمَسِّكٍ بِالمَسِيحِ الَّذِي هُوَ الرَّأسُ الَّذِي بِهِ يَتَدَعَّمُ الجَسَدُ وَيَتَمَاسَكُ بِالمَفَاصِلِ وَالأوْصَالِ، وَيَنْمُو نُمُوًّا مِنَ اللهِ.
20 لَقَدْ مِتُّمْ مَعَ المَسِيحِ، وَتَحَرَّرْتُمْ مِنَ القُوَى المُسَيطِرَةِ عَلَى هَذَا العَالَمِ. فَلِمَاذَا تَتَصَرَّفُونَ كَأنَّكُمْ مَا زِلتُمْ تَنْتَمُونَ إلَى العَالَمِ؟ فَأنْتُمْ تَخْضَعُونَ لِفَرَائِضَ مِثْلِ: 21 «لَا تُمسِكْ بِهَذَا!» أوْ «لَا تَذُقْ ذَاكَ!» أوْ «لَا تَلْمِسْ ذَاكَ!» 22 وَهِيَ أشيَاءُ سَتَفْسُدُ جَمِيعًا بِالِاسْتِعْمَالِ. وَأنْتُمْ تَخْضَعُونَ بِذَلِكَ لِقَوَانِينَ وَتَعَالِيمَ بَشَرِيَّةٍ، 23 لَهَا مَظهَرُ الحِكْمَةِ كَالتَّدَيُّنِ وَإذلَالِ النَّفْسِ وَتَعْذِيبِ الجَسَدِ. لَكِنَّ هَذِهِ الأشْيَاءَ لَا قِيمَةَ لَهَا فِي مُواجَهَةِ مَلَذَّاتِ الطَّبِيعَةِ الجَسَدِيَّةِ.

2 I want you to know how hard I am contending(A) for you and for those at Laodicea,(B) and for all who have not met me personally. 2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart(C) and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery(D) of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.(E) 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.(F) 5 For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit(G) and delight to see how disciplined(H) you are and how firm(I) your faith in Christ(J) is.
Spiritual Fullness in Christ
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,(K) continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted(L) and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,(M) and overflowing with thankfulness.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,(N) which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world(O) rather than on Christ.
9 For in Christ all the fullness(P) of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head(Q) over every power and authority.(R) 11 In him you were also circumcised(S) with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh[b](T) was put off when you were circumcised by[c] Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism,(U) in which you were also raised with him(V) through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.(W)
13 When you were dead in your sins(X) and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[d] alive(Y) with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,(Z) 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,(AA) which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.(AB) 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities,(AC) he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them(AD) by the cross.[e]
Freedom From Human Rules
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you(AE) by what you eat or drink,(AF) or with regard to a religious festival,(AG) a New Moon celebration(AH) or a Sabbath day.(AI) 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come;(AJ) the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility(AK) and the worship of angels disqualify you.(AL) Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind. 19 They have lost connection with the head,(AM) from whom the whole body,(AN) supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.(AO)
20 Since you died with Christ(AP) to the elemental spiritual forces of this world,(AQ) why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules:(AR) 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish(AS) with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings.(AT) 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility(AU) and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
