5 사절들이 되돌아오자 왕이 그들에게 물었다. “어찌하여 이렇게 일찍 돌아왔느냐?”
6 그들이 대답하였다. “어떤 사람이 우리를 만나서 이렇게 말하였습니다. ‘너희를 보낸 왕에게 돌아가서 하나님의 말씀을 전하여라. “이스라엘에는 하나님이 없어서, 네가 에그론의 신 바알세붑에게 사람들을 보내어 물어보려 하느냐? 그러므로 너는 네가 누워 있는 병상에서 내려오지 못할 것이다. 너는 틀림없이 죽을 것이다.”’”
7 왕이 그들에게 물었다. “너희를 만나서 그런 말을 한 사람이 어떻게 생겼더냐?”

6 “가는 도중에 어떤 사람이 우리에게 와서 왕에게 돌아가 여호와의 말씀을 이렇게 전하라고 했습니다. ‘이스라엘에 하나님이 없어서 네가 에그론 신 바알 – 세붑에게 물어 오라고 사람을 보내느냐? 너는 누운 침대에서 일어나지 못하고 반드시 죽고 말 것이다.’ ”
7 “그놈이 어떻게 생겼더냐?”

5 When the messengers returned to the king, he asked them, “Why have you come back?”
6 “A man came to meet us,” they replied. “And he said to us, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and tell him, “This is what the Lord says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending messengers to consult Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not leave(A) the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die!”’”
7 The king asked them, “What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?”
