다윗과 므비보셋
9 어느 날 다윗은 사울의 집안 사람 중 에아직도살아남은자가있을지도 모른다는 생각을 하게 되었다. 이것은 다윗이 요나단을 생각해서 그에게 은 혜를 베풀고 싶었기 때문이었다.
2 다윗은 사울의 종 중에 시바라는 사람 이있다는말을듣고그를불러물었 다. “네가시바냐?” “예, 제가시바입 니다.”
3 “사울의 집안에 살아 남은 자가 없느 냐? 내가 그에게 은혜를 베풀고 싶다.” “요나단의 절뚝발이 아들 하나가 있습 니다.”
4 “그가 어디에 있느냐?” “로-데발에 있는암미엘의아들마길의집에있습 니다.”
5-6 그래서다윗은사람을보내사울의 손자이며 요나단의 아들인 므비보셋 을 데려왔다. 그가 두려워하며 다윗에 게 나아와 정중하게 절하자
7 다윗이 그에게 말하였다. “두려워하지 말아라. 내가 너의 아버지 요나단을 생각하여 너에게 은혜를 베풀려고 너 를불렀다. 내가너의할아버지사울 이소유했던땅을모두너에게돌려 주고또내가너를항상내식탁에서 먹도록 하겠다.”
8 그때 므비보셋이 왕 앞에 다시 절하며 말하였다. “이 종이 무엇인데 대왕께 서죽은개와같은저에게이런친절 을 베푸십니까?”
9 그때 왕은 사울의 종 시바를 불러 이렇 게 말하였다. “내가 사울과 그 가족이 소유했던 모든 것을 네 주인의 손자에 게 주었다.
10 그러므로너와네아들들과네종들은 그를 위해 농사를 지어 그 가족에게 양 식을 공급하라. 그러나 므비보셋은 항 상 왕궁에 살면서 나와 함께 식사할 것 이다” (시바에게는 15명의 아들과 20 명의종이있었다).
11 그러자그는 “대왕께서명령하신대로 하겠습니다” 하고 대답하였다. 그때부 터 므비보셋은 다윗의 식탁에서 왕자 들과함께식사하였다.
12 므비보셋에게는 미가라는 젊은 아들 하나가 있었으며 시바의 집에 사는 사 람들이 모두 므비보셋의 종이 되었다.
13 그러나두발을다저는므비보셋은항 상 왕의 식탁에서 음식을 먹으며 예루 살렘의왕궁에서살았다.

David and Mephibosheth
9 David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”(A)
2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba.(B) They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
3 The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan;(C) he is lame(D) in both feet.”
4 “Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir(E) son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(F)
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(G) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(H)”
8 Mephibosheth(I) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog(J) like me?”
9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson(K) may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s[a] table like one of the king’s sons.(L)
12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.(M) 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.
