성벽을 세우는 사람들
3 대제사장 엘리아십이 그의 동료 제사장들과 더불어 ‘양의 문’을 다시 세웠다. 그들은 그 문을 하나님께 바쳐 거룩하게 한 다음 문짝을 달았다. 그들이 예루살렘 성벽을 쌓는 일도 하였는데, ‘백인 망대’와 ‘하나넬 망대’까지 성벽을 쌓아서 하나님께 바쳤다.
2 엘리아십 옆에서는 여리고 사람들이 쌓았고 그 옆에서는 이므리의 아들인 삭굴이 쌓았다.
3 하스나이의 아들들이 ‘물고기의 문’을 세웠다. 그들이 제자리에 문틀을 맞추어 넣고 문짝을 달았다. 그리고 그 문에 빗장과 빗장둔테[a]도 만들어 달았다.
4 그 옆에서는 우리야의 아들이며 학고스의 손자인 므레못이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다.
그 옆에서는 베레갸의 아들이며 므세사벨의 손자인 므술람이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다.
그 옆에서는 바아나의 아들인 사독이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다.
5 그 옆에서는 드고아 사람들이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 드고아 집안의 지도자들은 그들의 총독인 나 느헤미야를 위해 일하기를 거부하였으나, 나머지 다른 사람들은 열심히 일해 주었다.
6 바세아의 아들인 요야다와 브소드야의 아들인 므술람이 ‘옛 문’을 수리하였다. 그들은 제자리에 문틀을 맞추어 넣고 문짝을 달았다. 그리고 그 문에 빗장과 빗장둔테도 만들어 달았다.
7 그 옆에서는 기브온 사람 믈라댜와 메로놋 사람 야돈이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 이들은 기브온 사람들과 미스바 사람들을 데리고 이 공사를 하였다. 미스바는 유프라테스 강 서쪽 지방의 총독이 있는 지역이다.
8 그 옆에서는 할래야의 아들 웃시엘이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 웃시엘은 금세공하는 사람[b]이었다. 그 옆에서는 향수 제조업자 가운데 하나인 하나냐가 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 이들은 ‘넓은 벽’까지 예루살렘 성벽을 수리하였다.
9 그 옆에서는 훌의 아들인 르바야가 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 르바야는 예루살렘의 반쪽 구역을 다스리는 사람이었다.
10 그 옆에서는 하루맙의 아들인 여다야가 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 여다야가 쌓은 성벽은 바로 자기 집 앞이었다. 그 옆에서는 하삽느야의 아들 핫두스가 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 11 하림의 아들인 말기야와 바핫모압의 아들인 핫숩이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 이들은 또한 ‘화덕 망루’도 수리하였다.
12 그 옆에서는 할로헤스의 아들인 살룸이 성벽의 다음 부분을 수리하였다. 그의 딸들이 그를 도왔다. 살룸은 예루살렘의 반쪽 구역을 다스리는 사람이었다.
13 하눈과 사노아 마을에 사는 사람들이 ‘골짜기 문’을 수리하였다. 이들은 문을 수리하고 거기에 문짝을 달고 빗장과 빗장둔테[c]를 만들어 달았다. 이들은 ‘거름 문’에 이르는 성벽 천 자[d]도 수리하였다.
14 레갑의 아들인 말기야가 ‘거름 문’을 수리하였다. 그는 벳학게렘 구역을 다스리는 사람이었다. 그는 ‘거름 문’을 다시 세우고 거기에 문짝을 달고 빗장과 빗장둔테를 만들어 달았다.
15 골호세의 아들인 살룬이 ‘샘의 문’을 수리하였다. 살룬은 미스바 구역을 다스리는 사람이었다. 그는 문을 다시 세우고 지붕을 얹고 문짝을 달고 거기에 빗장과 빗장둔테를 만들어 달았다. 살룬은 또한 ‘왕의 정원’ 옆에 있는 ‘실로암 연못’[e]의 벽을 ‘다윗 성’에서 내려가는 층계들이 있는 곳까지 수리하였다.
16 그 다음은 아스북의 아들 느헤미야가 수리하였다. 이 느헤미야는 벳술 구역의 반쪽을 다스리는 사람이었다. 그는 ‘다윗의 묘지’ 맞은 편 성벽을, 인공 연못과 ‘용사들의 집’까지 수리하였다.
17 그 다음은 레위 사람들이 수리하였다. 바니의 아들 르훔이 성벽을 수리하였고
그 옆에서는 하사뱌가 수리하였다. 그는 그일라 구역의 반쪽을 다스리는 사람으로 자기가 다스리는 구역을 수리하였다.
18 그 다음은 헤나닷의 아들인 바왜가 그의 친족들과 함께 수리하였다. 바왜는 그일라 구역의 다른 반쪽을 다스리는 사람이었다.
19 그 다음은 예수아의 아들인 에셀이 수리하였다. 에셀은 미스바 구역을 다스리는 사람이었다. 그는 비탈 맞은쪽에서 성 굽이에 있는 무기창고까지의 성벽을 수리하였다. 20 그 다음은 삽베의 아들 바룩이 수리하였다. 그는 둘째 부분, 곧 성 굽이에서 대제사장 엘리아십의 집 문에까지 이르는 성벽을 수리하였다. 21 그 다음 부분, 곧 엘리아십의 집 문에서 그 집 끝까지의 성벽은 우리야의 아들이며 학고스의 손자인 므레못이 수리하였다. 22 그 다음은 그 지역에 살고 있는 제사장들이 수리하였다.
23 그 다음은 베냐민과 핫숩이 다시 쌓았다. 이 부분은 이들의 집 맞은편이었다. 그 다음은 마아세야의 아들이며 하나냐의 손자인 아사랴가 그의 집 옆의 성벽을 수리하였다.
24 헤나닷의 아들 빈누이가 그 다음 부분, 곧 아사랴의 집에서 성 굽이를 지나 성벽 모퉁이에 이르는 성벽을 수리하였다.
25 우새의 아들 발랄이 성 굽이 맞은편에서 망루에 이르는 성벽을 수리하였다. 이 망루는 왕의 궁전 윗층에서 쑥 내밀어 경비대 안마당에 있었다. 발랄 옆에서는 바로스의 아들 브다야가 성벽을 수리하였다.
26 오벨에 살고 있는 성전 막일꾼들이 동쪽에 있는 ‘물의 문’ 맞은쪽 부분, 곧 궁전에서 쑥 나온 망루에 이르는 성벽을 다시 쌓았다.
27 드고아 사람들이 둘째 부분, 곧 쑥 나온 큰 망루에서 오벨의 성벽에 이르는 곳까지를 수리하였다.
28 제사장들이 ‘말의 문’ 윗부분을 수리하였는데, 그들은 각기 자기 집 맞은쪽 성벽을 수리하였다. 29 그 다음은 임멜의 아들인 사독이 자기 집 맞은쪽 성벽을 수리하였다. 그 다음은 ‘동문’의 문지기인 스가냐의 아들 스마야가 수리하였다.
30 그 다음은 셀레마의 아들 하나냐와 살랍의 여섯째 아들 하눈이 둘째 부분을 수리하였다.
그 다음은 베레갸의 아들 므술람이 그가 사는 곳[f] 맞은쪽 성벽을 수리하였다. 31 그 다음은 금세공장이 말기야가 수리하였다. 그는 ‘점호 문’ 맞은쪽인 성전 막일꾼과 장사꾼들의 숙소가 있는 곳까지 그리고 성벽 모퉁이에 있는 누각까지 수리하였다. 32 그리고 성 모퉁이에 있는 누각과 ‘양의 문’ 사이의 성벽은 금세공장이들과 상인들이 수리하였다.

Builders of the Wall
3 Eliashib(A) the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt(B) the Sheep Gate.(C) They dedicated it and set its doors in place, building as far as the Tower of the Hundred, which they dedicated, and as far as the Tower of Hananel.(D) 2 The men of Jericho(E) built the adjoining section, and Zakkur son of Imri built next to them.
3 The Fish Gate(F) was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place. 4 Meremoth(G) son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired the next section. Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs. 5 The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa,(H) but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.[a]
6 The Jeshanah[b] Gate(I) was repaired by Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah. They laid its beams and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place. 7 Next to them, repairs were made by men from Gibeon(J) and Mizpah—Melatiah of Gibeon and Jadon of Meronoth—places under the authority of the governor of Trans-Euphrates. 8 Uzziel son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired the next section; and Hananiah, one of the perfume-makers, made repairs next to that. They restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.(K) 9 Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section. 10 Adjoining this, Jedaiah son of Harumaph made repairs opposite his house, and Hattush son of Hashabneiah made repairs next to him. 11 Malkijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section and the Tower of the Ovens.(L) 12 Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section with the help of his daughters.
13 The Valley Gate(M) was repaired by Hanun and the residents of Zanoah.(N) They rebuilt it and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place. They also repaired a thousand cubits[c] of the wall as far as the Dung Gate.(O)
14 The Dung Gate was repaired by Malkijah son of Rekab, ruler of the district of Beth Hakkerem.(P) He rebuilt it and put its doors with their bolts and bars in place.
15 The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun son of Kol-Hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah. He rebuilt it, roofing it over and putting its doors and bolts and bars in place. He also repaired the wall of the Pool of Siloam,[d](Q) by the King’s Garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David. 16 Beyond him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur,(R) made repairs up to a point opposite the tombs[e](S) of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes.
17 Next to him, the repairs were made by the Levites under Rehum son of Bani. Beside him, Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah,(T) carried out repairs for his district. 18 Next to him, the repairs were made by their fellow Levites under Binnui[f] son of Henadad, ruler of the other half-district of Keilah. 19 Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, repaired another section, from a point facing the ascent to the armory as far as the angle of the wall. 20 Next to him, Baruch son of Zabbai zealously repaired another section, from the angle to the entrance of the house of Eliashib the high priest. 21 Next to him, Meremoth(U) son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired another section, from the entrance of Eliashib’s house to the end of it.
22 The repairs next to him were made by the priests from the surrounding region. 23 Beyond them, Benjamin and Hasshub made repairs in front of their house; and next to them, Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house. 24 Next to him, Binnui(V) son of Henadad repaired another section, from Azariah’s house to the angle and the corner, 25 and Palal son of Uzai worked opposite the angle and the tower projecting from the upper palace near the court of the guard.(W) Next to him, Pedaiah son of Parosh(X) 26 and the temple servants(Y) living on the hill of Ophel(Z) made repairs up to a point opposite the Water Gate(AA) toward the east and the projecting tower. 27 Next to them, the men of Tekoa(AB) repaired another section, from the great projecting tower(AC) to the wall of Ophel.
28 Above the Horse Gate,(AD) the priests made repairs, each in front of his own house. 29 Next to them, Zadok son of Immer made repairs opposite his house. Next to him, Shemaiah son of Shekaniah, the guard at the East Gate, made repairs. 30 Next to him, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. Next to them, Meshullam son of Berekiah made repairs opposite his living quarters. 31 Next to him, Malkijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the room above the corner; 32 and between the room above the corner and the Sheep Gate(AE) the goldsmiths and merchants made repairs.
