마지막 경고와 인사
13 이번이 내가 세 번째로 여러분을 찾아가는 셈이 됩니다. “모든 소송 사건은 두 사람이나 세 사람의 증인이 있어야 이루어집니다.”(A) 2 내가 두 번째로 여러분을 찾아갔을 때에 이미 경고한 적이 있지만, 여러분과 떨어져 있는 지금, 전에 죄를 지었던 사람들이나 그 밖의 모든 사람에게 다시 한 번 더 경고합니다. 내가 다시 가면, 죄를 지은 모든 사람을 반드시 벌하겠습니다. 3 여러분이 그리스도께서 나를 통해 말씀하신다는 증거를 보기를 원하니 하는 말입니다. 그리스도께서는 여러분을 대할 때 결코 약하지 않으십니다. 그분은 여러분 가운데서 강하십니다. 4 그분께서 십자가에 못 박히셨을 때, 그분이 약하셨다는 것은 사실입니다. 그러나 지금은 하나님의 능력으로 살아 계십니다. 마찬가지로 우리도 그리스도 안에서 약한 것이 사실입니다. 그러나 여러분을 섬기기 위하여 우리는 하나님의 능력을 힘입어 그리스도와 함께 살 것입니다.
5 여러분은 자기가 믿음 안에 있는지 스스로를 살펴보고 시험해 보십시오. 예수 그리스도께서 여러분 가운데 계심을 깨닫지 못하겠습니까? 깨닫지 못한다면 여러분은 그 시험에 낙제한 것입니다. 6 그러나 우리는 그 시험에 합격하여 하나님의 인정을 받았다는 것을 여러분이 알아주었으면 좋겠습니다. 7 우리는 여러분이 악한 일을 저지르지 않기를 하나님께 기도합니다. 우리가 이렇게 기도하는 것은, 우리가 시험에 합격한 것을 드러내려는 것이 아닙니다. 그것은, 우리는 비록 시험에 떨어진 것처럼 보이더라도, 여러분은 옳은 일을 하게 하려는 것입니다. 8 우리는 진리를 거슬러서는 아무것도 할 수 없고, 오직 진리를 위해서만 무엇인가 할 수 있습니다. 9 우리는 약하지만, 여러분이 강할 때 우리는 기뻐합니다. 우리는 여러분이 전처럼 다시 온전하게 되기를 기도합니다. 10 내가 여러분을 떠나 있을 때 이런 일들을 편지로 쓰는 것은, 내가 여러분을 찾아갈 때 주께서 내게 주신 권위를 써서 여러분을 너무 가혹하게 대할 필요가 없게 하려는 것입니다. 주께서 내게 주신 이 권위는, 여러분을 무너뜨리기 위한 것이 아니라 여러분을 더욱 든든하게 세우기 위한 것입니다.
11 형제자매 여러분, 그러면 안녕히 계십시오. 전처럼 다시 온전하게 되기를 힘쓰십시오. 우리가 부탁한 일들을 하십시오. 꼭 같은 뜻을 품고 살아가십시오. 서로 사이좋게 지내십시오. 그러면 사랑과 평화의 하나님께서 여러분과 함께하실 것입니다.
12 거룩한 입맞춤으로 서로에게 인사하십시오. 13 모든 성도들이 여러분에게 문안합니다.
14 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와, 하나님의 사랑과, 성령께서 이루어 주시는 사귐이 여러분 모두에게 있기를 빕니다.

Final Warnings
13 This will be my third visit to you.(A) “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”[a](B) 2 I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent:(C) On my return I will not spare(D) those who sinned earlier(E) or any of the others, 3 since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me.(F) He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you. 4 For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness,(G) yet he lives by God’s power.(H) Likewise, we are weak(I) in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him(J) in our dealing with you.
5 Examine yourselves(K) to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.(L) Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you(M)—unless, of course, you fail the test? 6 And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test. 7 Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong—not so that people will see that we have stood the test but so that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. 8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 We are glad whenever we are weak(N) but you are strong;(O) and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.(P) 10 This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh(Q) in my use of authority—the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.(R)
Final Greetings
11 Finally, brothers and sisters,(S) rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.(T) And the God of love(U) and peace(V) will be with you.
12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.(W) 13 All God’s people here send their greetings.(X)
14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,(Y) and the love of God,(Z) and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit(AA) be with you all.

For (J)we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, (K)that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you [b]are (L)disqualified. 6 But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.

7 Now [c]I pray to God that you do no evil, not that we should appear approved, but that you should do what is honorable, though (M)we may seem disqualified. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 9 For we are glad (N)when we are weak and you are strong. And this also we pray, (O)that you may be made complete. 10 (P)Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the (Q)authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. (R)Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love (S)and peace will be with you.
12 (T)Greet one another with a holy kiss.
13 All the saints greet you.
14 (U)The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and (V)the [d]communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
