Korean Bible: Easy-to-Read Version

1 하나님의 뜻을 따라 그리스도 예수의 사도로 부르심을 받은 나 바울과 형제 소스데네는, 2 고린도에 있는 하나님의 교회에 이 편지를 씁니다. 하나님께서는 그리스도 예수를 통하여 여러분을 거룩하게 해 주셨고, 여러분을 불러 당신의 거룩한[a] 백성이 되게 하셨습니다. 하나님께서는 여러분뿐만 아니라, 어느 곳에서나 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 사람을 거룩한 백성이 되게 하셨습니다. 예수 그리스도께서는 이런 모든 사람의 주님이시요, 또 우리의 주님이십니다.

바울, 하나님께 감사드리다

4 하나님께서는 그리스도 예수를 통해 여러분에게 은혜를 내려 주셨습니다. 나는 늘 그 은혜를 생각하며 나의 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 5 그리스도 안에서 여러분은 모든 면에서 풍성하게 되었습니다. 곧 온갖 종류의 말과 모든 지식을 다 갖추게 되었습니다. 6 우리가 그리스도에 관하여 여러분에게 증언한 것이 사실임이 여러분 가운데서 증명되었습니다. 7 이제 여러분에게는 부족한 선물이 없습니다. 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오시기를 기다리는 동안, 여러분은 하나님에게서 온갖 선물을 다 받았기 때문입니다. 8 또한 주께서는 여러분이 끝까지 굳세게 견딜 수 있도록 지켜 주시어, 여러분이 흠 잡을 데 없는 사람들로서, 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오시는 날을 맞이하게 해 주실 것입니다. 9 하나님은 약속하신 것은 반드시 지키시는 분이십니다. 그런 분께서 여러분을 불러 그분의 아들 예수 그리스도 우리 주님과 가까이 사귈 수 있게 해 주셨습니다.

고린도교회의 문제

10 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 형제자매 여러분에게 간절히 부탁합니다. 여러분은 모두 의견을 통일시켜 한편이 되어야 합니다. 여러분 사이에 어떤 편 가름도 있어서는 안 됩니다. 여러분은 모두가 같은 사고방식과 같은 목적으로 뭉쳐야 합니다. 11 형제자매 여러분, 글로에 집안 사람들에게서 여러분 가운데 다툼이 있다는 소식을 들었습니다. 12 말하자면 여러분은 저마다 “나는 바울의 제자다.” “나는 아폴로[b]의 제자다.” “나는 게바[c]의 제자다.” “나는 그리스도의 제자다.” 라고 한다는 것입니다. 13 그리스도께서 나누어져 여러분에게 한 조각씩 분배되었습니까? 바울이 여러분을 위해 십자가 위에서 죽었습니까? 여러분이 바울의 이름으로 세례를 받았습니까? 14 나는 여러분 가운데서 그리스보와 가이오를 빼고는 누구에게도 세례를 주지 않은 것을 감사하게 생각합니다. 15 내가 감사하게 여기는 것은, 지금 여러분 가운데 누구도 내 이름으로 세례를 받았다고 말할 수 없게 되었기 때문입니다. 16 (참, 스데바나 집안 사람들에게도 세례를 주었습니다. 그러나 다른 누구에게도 세례를 주었다는 기억이 없습니다.) 17 그리스도께서는 사람들에게 세례를 주라고 나를 보내신 것이 아니라, 기쁜 소식을 전하라고 보내셨습니다. 그러나 나로 하여금 세련된 말솜씨로 기쁜 소식을 전하게 하지 않으신 것은, 그리스도의 십자가가 그 능력을 잃지 않게 하시려는 것이었습니다.

18 십자가에 관한 소식은 멸망하는 자들에게는 어리석은 것처럼 보이지만, 구원을 받는 우리에게는 하나님의 능력입니다. 19 성경[d]에 이렇게 쓰여 있습니다.

“내가 지혜 있는 자들의 지혜를 없애고
총명한 자들의 총명을 물리치리라.”(A)

20 지혜 있는 사람이 어디에 있습니까? 학자가 어디에 있습니까? 이 시대의 철학자가 어디에 있습니까? 하나님께서 이 세상의 지혜를 다 어리석은 것으로 만들지 않으셨습니까? 21 세상이 세상의 지혜로는 하나님을 알 수 없었던 것은, 하나님의 지혜로 된 일입니다. 그리하여 하나님께서는 우리가 전하는 ‘어리석은’ 소식[e]을 통하여 믿는 사람들을 구원하시기로 하셨습니다. 22 유대 사람은 기적을 요구하고, 그리스 사람은 지혜를 원합니다. 23 그러나 우리는 십자가 위에서 죽임을 당하신 그리스도를 전할 뿐입니다. 그리스도가 십자가에 못 박혀 죽으셨다는 소식이 유대 사람에게는 거리낌이 되고, 이방 사람[f]에게는 어리석은 소리일 뿐입니다. 24 그러나 유대 사람이거나 이방 사람이거나 상관없이, 하나님의 부르심을 받은 사람들에게는, 그리스도는 하나님의 능력이요 하나님의 지혜입니다. 25 하나님의 ‘어리석음’ 이 인간의 지혜보다 더 지혜롭습니다. 그리고 하나님의 ‘연약함’ 도 인간의 힘보다 더 강합니다.

26 형제자매 여러분, 하나님께서 여러분을 부르셨을 때를 한번 생각해 보십시오. 여러분 가운데에는 세상의 기준으로 보아 지혜로운 사람이나 큰 세력을 가진 사람이 많지 않았고, 가문이 훌륭한 사람도 별로 없었습니다. 27 하나님께서는 지혜로운 자들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 어리석은 것들을 택하셨고, 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하시려고 세상의 약한 것들을 택하셨습니다. 28 또 무엇이나 된 척하는 자들을 멸하시려고, 세상에서 보잘 것 없는 것들과 멸시 받는 것들, 곧 아무것도 아닌 것들을 택하셨습니다. 29 그것은, 어느 누구도 하나님 앞에서 자랑하지 못하게 하시려는 것이었습니다. 30 그러나 하나님께서는 여러분을 그리스도 예수와 하나가 되게 하셨습니다. 이 그리스도가 하나님께서 우리를 위하여 주신 지혜가 되셨습니다. 하나님께서 우리를 받아 주시고, 거룩하게 하시고, 죄에서 놓여나게 해 주신 것이 다 그리스도의 덕분입니다. 31 그러므로 성경에도 이렇게 쓰여 있습니다. “누구든지 자랑하는 사람은 주 안에서만 자랑하여라.”(B)

1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Thanksgiving

4 I always thank my God for you(I) because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5 For in him you have been enriched(J) in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge(K)— 6 God thus confirming our testimony(L) about Christ among you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift(M) as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.(N) 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless(O) on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.(P) 9 God is faithful,(Q) who has called you(R) into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.(S)

A Church Divided Over Leaders

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a](T) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,(U) but that you be perfectly united(V) in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household(W) have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”;(X) another, “I follow Apollos”;(Y) another, “I follow Cephas[b]”;(Z) still another, “I follow Christ.”

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?(AA) 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus(AB) and Gaius,(AC) 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household(AD) of Stephanas;(AE) beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize,(AF) but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom(AG) and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness(AH) to those who are perishing,(AI) but to us who are being saved(AJ) it is the power of God.(AK) 19 For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
    the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”[c](AL)

20 Where is the wise person?(AM) Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age?(AN) Has not God made foolish(AO) the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world(AP) through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save(AQ) those who believe.(AR) 22 Jews demand signs(AS) and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified:(AT) a stumbling block(AU) to Jews and foolishness(AV) to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called,(AW) both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God(AX) and the wisdom of God.(AY) 25 For the foolishness(AZ) of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness(BA) of God is stronger than human strength.

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called.(BB) Not many of you were wise(BC) by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose(BD) the foolish(BE) things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not(BF)—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him.(BG) 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus,(BH) who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness,(BI) holiness(BJ) and redemption.(BK) 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”[d](BL)

Spiritual Gifts at Corinth

Sectarianism Is Sin

Christ the Power and Wisdom of God(AA)

Glory Only in the Lord

Divisions in the Church
