7 主 耶 和 华 指 示 我 一 件 事 ： 为 王 割 菜 （ 或 译 ： 草 ） 之 後 ， 菜 又 发 生 ； 刚 发 生 的 时 候 ， 主 造 蝗 虫 。
2 蝗 虫 吃 尽 那 地 的 青 物 ， 我 就 说 ： 主 耶 和 华 啊 ， 求 你 赦 免 ； 因 为 雅 各 微 弱 ， 他 怎 能 站 立 得 住 呢 ？
3 耶 和 华 就 後 悔 ， 说 ： 这 灾 可 以 免 了 。
4 主 耶 和 华 又 指 示 我 一 件 事 ： 他 命 火 来 惩 罚 以 色 列 ， 火 就 吞 灭 深 渊 ， 险 些 将 地 烧 灭 。
5 我 就 说 ： 主 耶 和 华 啊 ， 求 你 止 息 ； 因 为 雅 各 微 弱 ， 他 怎 能 站 立 得 住 呢 ？
6 耶 和 华 就 後 悔 ， 说 ： 这 灾 也 可 免 了 。
7 他 又 指 示 我 一 件 事 ： 有 一 道 墙 是 按 准 绳 建 筑 的 ， 主 手 拿 准 绳 站 在 其 上 。
8 耶 和 华 对 我 说 ： 阿 摩 司 啊 ， 你 看 见 甚 麽 ？ 我 说 ： 看 见 准 绳 。 主 说 ： 我 要 吊 起 准 绳 在 我 民 以 色 列 中 ， 我 必 不 再 宽 恕 他 们 。
9 以 撒 的 邱 坛 必 然 凄 凉 ， 以 色 列 的 圣 所 必 然 荒 废 。 我 必 兴 起 ， 用 刀 攻 击 耶 罗 波 安 的 家 。
10 伯 特 利 的 祭 司 亚 玛 谢 打 发 人 到 以 色 列 王 耶 罗 波 安 那 里 ， 说 ： 阿 摩 司 在 以 色 列 家 中 图 谋 背 叛 你 ； 他 所 说 的 一 切 话 ， 这 国 担 当 不 起 ；
11 因 为 阿 摩 司 如 此 说 ： 耶 罗 波 安 必 被 刀 杀 ， 以 色 列 民 定 被 掳 去 离 开 本 地 。
12 亚 玛 谢 又 对 阿 摩 司 说 ： 你 这 先 见 哪 ， 要 逃 往 犹 大 地 去 ， 在 那 里 糊 口 ， 在 那 里 说 预 言 ，
13 却 不 要 在 伯 特 利 再 说 预 言 ； 因 为 这 里 有 王 的 圣 所 ， 有 王 的 宫 殿 。
14 阿 摩 司 对 亚 玛 谢 说 ： 我 原 不 是 先 知 ， 也 不 是 先 知 的 门 徒 （ 原 文 是 儿 子 ） 。 我 是 牧 人 ， 又 是 修 理 桑 树 的 。
15 耶 和 华 选 召 我 ， 使 我 不 跟 从 羊 群 ， 对 我 说 ： 你 去 向 我 民 以 色 列 说 预 言 。
16 亚 玛 谢 啊 ， 现 在 你 要 听 耶 和 华 的 话 。 你 说 ： 不 要 向 以 色 列 说 预 言 ， 也 不 要 向 以 撒 家 滴 下 预 言 。
17 所 以 耶 和 华 如 此 说 ： 你 的 妻 子 必 在 城 中 作 妓 女 ， 你 的 儿 女 必 倒 在 刀 下 ； 你 的 地 必 有 人 用 绳 子 量 了 分 取 ， 你 自 己 必 死 在 污 秽 之 地 。 以 色 列 民 定 被 掳 去 离 开 本 地 。

各种灾祸的异象
7 以下是主耶和华让我看见的异象：看啊，祂造了一大群蝗虫。那时，王室的作物已经收割，第二季作物刚开始发苗。 2 蝗虫吃尽地上的青苗时，我说：“主耶和华啊，求你赦免！雅各那么弱小，他怎么受得了呢？” 3 于是，耶和华心生怜悯，说：“我不降这灾了。”
4 以下是主耶和华让我看见的异象：看啊，主耶和华降下审判的大火。大火烧干了深海，正在吞噬土地。 5 那时，我说：“主耶和华啊，求你停止吧！雅各那么弱小，他怎么受得了呢？” 6 于是，耶和华心生怜悯，说：“我也不降这灾了。”
7 以下是祂让我看见的异象：看啊，主站在一道按照准绳建造的墙边，手里拿着准绳。 8 耶和华对我说：“阿摩司，你看见什么？”我答道：“一条准绳。”主说：“我要在我的以色列子民中吊起准绳，量度他们，我不会再饶恕他们。 9 以撒子孙的丘坛必遭毁坏，以色列的庙宇必成废墟，我要用刀攻击耶罗波安王朝。”

10 伯特利的祭司亚玛谢派人告诉以色列王耶罗波安：“阿摩司在以色列家图谋背叛你，我们国家无法容忍他的言论。 11 因为阿摩司这样说，‘耶罗波安将丧身刀下，以色列人必被掳去，远离家乡。’”
12 亚玛谢对我说：“先见啊，走吧！逃回犹大去吧！你要在那里挣吃的，在那里说预言。 13 不可再在伯特利说预言，这里是王的圣所，是国庙。”
14 我答道：“我本不是先知，也不是先知的门徒。我只是一个牧人，也替人看护桑树。 15 但耶和华不再让我看守羊群，祂对我说，‘去！向我的以色列子民说预言。’ 16 亚玛谢啊，你说，‘不要说攻击以色列的预言，不要传讲攻击以撒子孙的信息。’现在你要听耶和华对你说的话。 17 耶和华说，‘你的妻子必在这城里沦为妓女，你的儿女必丧身刀下，你的田地必被人丈量、瓜分，你自己必死在异乡[a]。以色列人必被掳去，远离家乡。’”

Locusts, Fire and a Plumb Line
7 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me:(A) He was preparing swarms of locusts(B) after the king’s share had been harvested and just as the late crops were coming up. 2 When they had stripped the land clean,(C) I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive?(D) He is so small!(E)”
3 So the Lord relented.(F)
“This will not happen,” the Lord said.(G)
4 This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: The Sovereign Lord was calling for judgment by fire;(H) it dried up the great deep and devoured(I) the land. 5 Then I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!(J)”
6 So the Lord relented.(K)
“This will not happen either,” the Sovereign Lord said.(L)
7 This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb,[a] with a plumb line[b] in his hand. 8 And the Lord asked me, “What do you see,(M) Amos?(N)”
“A plumb line,(O)” I replied.
Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(P)
9 “The high places(Q) of Isaac will be destroyed
and the sanctuaries(R) of Israel will be ruined;
with my sword I will rise against the house of Jeroboam.(S)”
Amos and Amaziah
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel(T) sent a message to Jeroboam(U) king of Israel: “Amos is raising a conspiracy(V) against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.(W) 11 For this is what Amos is saying:
“‘Jeroboam will die by the sword,
and Israel will surely go into exile,(X)
away from their native land.’”(Y)
12 Then Amaziah said to Amos, “Get out, you seer!(Z) Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.(AA) 13 Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel,(AB) because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple(AC) of the kingdom.(AD)”
14 Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet(AE) nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.(AF) 15 But the Lord took me from tending the flock(AG) and said to me, ‘Go,(AH) prophesy(AI) to my people Israel.’(AJ) 16 Now then, hear(AK) the word of the Lord. You say,
“‘Do not prophesy against(AL) Israel,
and stop preaching against the descendants of Isaac.’
17 “Therefore this is what the Lord says:
