Psalm 103
1 Van David.
Ik zeg tegen mezelf: "Kom, prijs de Heer!
Prijs de Heer met alles wat je hebt!
2 Kom, prijs de Heer!"
Ik wil niets vergeten van wat Hij voor mij heeft gedaan.
3 Hij vergeeft alles wat ik verkeerd heb gedaan.
Hij geneest al mijn ziekten.
4 Hij redt mijn leven van de dood.
Hij is altijd liefdevol en goed voor me.
5 Hij stort zijn goedheid over mij uit.
Hij geeft mij de kracht van mijn jeugd terug.
Hij maakt me weer zo sterk als toen ik jong was,
zo sterk als een jonge arend.
6 De Heer is rechtvaardig
voor alle mensen die worden verdrukt.
7 Hij vertelde aan Mozes zijn plannen
en liet aan Israël zijn daden zien.
8 De Heer is vol liefde.
Hij vergeeft ons altijd graag wat we verkeerd deden.
Hij is geduldig en liefdevol.
9 Hij blijft niet voor altijd boos.
Hij blijft niet voor eeuwig kwaad.
10 Hij geeft ons niet de straf die we verdiend hebben
met onze ongehoorzaamheid.
11 Maar zo hoog als de hemel is boven de aarde,
zó groot is zijn liefde voor de mensen die diep ontzag voor Hem hebben.
12 Hij tilt onze ongehoorzaamheid van ons af
en zo ver als het oosten is van het westen,
zó ver werpt Hij die bij ons vandaan.
13 Net zoals een vader goed zorgt voor zijn kinderen,
zó goed zorgt Hij voor de mensen die diep ontzag voor Hem hebben.
14 Want Hij weet waarvan wij gemaakt zijn.
Hij vergeet niet dat wij maar stof zijn.
15 Ons leven duurt maar éven.
Een mens lijkt op een bloem in het gras:
16 één windvlaag en hij is er niet meer,
er is niets meer van hem over.
17 Maar de Heer is voor eeuwig liefdevol
voor de mensen die ontzag voor Hem hebben.
Dat is Hij ook voor hun kinderen.
18 Hij is goed voor de mensen
die zich aan zijn verbond houden en Hem gehoorzamen.
19 De Heer is Koning in de hemel.
Hij is Koning over alles.
20 Machtige engelen, prijs de Heer!
– zij zijn sterke helden die doen wat Hij zegt
en zijn woord gehoorzamen.
21 Hemelse engelenlegers, prijs de Heer!
– zij zijn dienaren van God die doen wat Hij wil.
22 Alles wat Hij heeft gemaakt, prijs de Heer!
Prijs Hem overal op de aarde en in de hemel.
Ook ik prijs de Heer.

1 Praise the Lord,(A) my soul;(B)
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.(C)
2 Praise the Lord,(D) my soul,
and forget not(E) all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins(F)
and heals(G) all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life(H) from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,(I)
5 who satisfies(J) your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed(K) like the eagle’s.(L)
7 He made known(O) his ways(P) to Moses,
his deeds(Q) to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,(R)
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;(S)
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve(T)
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love(U) for those who fear him;(V)
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions(W) from us.
13 As a father has compassion(X) on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,(Y)
he remembers that we are dust.(Z)
15 The life of mortals is like grass,(AA)
they flourish like a flower(AB) of the field;
16 the wind blows(AC) over it and it is gone,
and its place(AD) remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children(AE)—
18 with those who keep his covenant(AF)
and remember(AG) to obey his precepts.(AH)
20 Praise the Lord,(AK) you his angels,(AL)
you mighty ones(AM) who do his bidding,(AN)
who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,(AO)
you his servants(AP) who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works(AQ)
everywhere in his dominion.

103 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
