耶路撒冷陷落
39 犹大王西底家第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领全军前来围困耶路撒冷。 2 西底家十一年四月初九日，城被攻破。 3 耶路撒冷被攻下的时候，巴比伦王的众官长，尼甲‧沙利薛、三甲‧尼波、撒西金将军[a]、尼甲‧沙利薛将军[b]，并巴比伦王其余的官长都来坐在中门。 4 犹大王西底家和所有士兵看见他们，就在夜间从靠近王的花园、两城墙中间的门逃跑出城，往亚拉巴逃去。 5 迦勒底的军队追赶他们，在耶利哥的平原追上西底家，将他逮住，带到哈马地的利比拉、巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒那里；尼布甲尼撒就判他的罪。 6 在利比拉，巴比伦王在西底家眼前杀了他的儿女；巴比伦王又杀了犹大所有的贵族， 7 并且挖了西底家的眼睛，用铜链锁住他，要带到巴比伦去。 8 迦勒底人用火焚烧王宫和百姓的房屋，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙。 9 那时，尼布撒拉旦护卫长把城里所剩下的百姓和投降他的降民，以及其余的百姓都掳到巴比伦去了。 10 尼布撒拉旦护卫长却把百姓中一无所有的穷人留在犹大地，当时就赏给他们葡萄园和田地[c]。
耶利米被释放
11 巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒为了耶利米，嘱咐尼布撒拉旦护卫长： 12 “你领他去，好好地看待他，切不可害他；他对你怎么说，你就向他怎样做。” 13 尼布撒拉旦护卫长和尼布沙斯班将军[d]、尼甲‧沙利薛将军[e]，并巴比伦王众官长， 14 派人把耶利米从护卫兵的院中提出来，交给沙番的孙子，亚希甘的儿子基大利，让他自由进出屋子；于是耶利米住在百姓中间。
以伯‧米勒的希望
15 耶利米还囚在护卫兵院中的时候，耶和华的话临到他，说： 16 “你去告诉古实人以伯‧米勒说，万军之耶和华—以色列的 神如此说：看哪，我说降祸不降福的话必临到这城，到那时必在你面前实现。 17 到那日我必拯救你，你必不致交在你所怕的人手中。这是耶和华说的。 18 我定要搭救你，你必不致倒在刀下，却要保全自己的性命，因你倚靠我。这是耶和华说的。”

39 犹大王西底迦执政第九年十月，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领全军包围耶路撒冷。 2 西底迦执政第十一年四月九日，耶路撒冷沦陷。 3 尼甲·沙利薛、三甲·尼波、撒西金和另一个尼甲·沙利薛等巴比伦王的所有将领都进城坐在中门。 4 犹大王西底迦和所有军兵见势不妙，便在夜间穿过御花园，从两城墙中间的门逃往亚拉巴。 5 但迦勒底的军队追上来，在耶利哥的平原擒住西底迦，把他带到哈马的利比拉去见巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，接受审判。 6 巴比伦王在利比拉当着西底迦的面杀了他的众子和犹大所有的贵族， 7 并且挖去他的双眼，把他用铜链锁着带到巴比伦。 8 迦勒底人放火焚烧王宫和民居，拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙。 9 护卫长尼布撒拉旦把城中的余民以及投降的人都掳到巴比伦， 10 却让那些一贫如洗的穷人留在犹大，将葡萄园和田地分给他们。
耶利米获释
11 至于耶利米，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒吩咐护卫长尼布撒拉旦： 12 “你好好照顾耶利米，切不可伤害他。他有什么要求，你都要满足。” 13 于是，护卫长尼布撒拉旦、尼布沙斯班、尼甲·沙利薛等巴比伦王的所有将领， 14 便派人把耶利米从护卫兵的院子提出来，让沙番的孙子、亚希甘的儿子基大利带他回家。从此，耶利米就生活在百姓当中。
15 耶利米被监禁在护卫兵院子里的时候，耶和华对他说： 16 “你去告诉古实人以伯·米勒，以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说，‘看啊，我必照我说的使这城遭受灾祸，得不到祝福。你必亲眼看见这一切发生。’ 17 耶和华说，‘但那时，我必拯救你，使你不致落在你所惧怕的人手中。 18 我必拯救你，使你保全性命，不致丧身刀下，因为你信靠我。这是耶和华说的。’”

39 1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah(A) king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar(B) king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege(C) to it. 2 And on the ninth day of the fourth(D) month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year, the city wall(E) was broken through.(F) 3 Then all the officials(G) of the king of Babylon came and took seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-Sarsekim a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officials of the king of Babylon. 4 When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled; they left the city at night by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls,(H) and headed toward the Arabah.[a](I)
5 But the Babylonian[b] army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah(J) in the plains of Jericho. They captured(K) him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah(L) in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced sentence on him. 6 There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and also killed all the nobles(M) of Judah. 7 Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes(N) and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.(O)
8 The Babylonians[c] set fire(P) to the royal palace and the houses of the people and broke down the walls(Q) of Jerusalem. 9 Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard carried into exile to Babylon the people who remained in the city, along with those who had gone over to him,(R) and the rest of the people.(S) 10 But Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people, who owned nothing; and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.
11 Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given these orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard: 12 “Take him and look after him; don’t harm(T) him but do for him whatever he asks.” 13 So Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard, Nebushazban a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officers(U) of the king of Babylon 14 sent and had Jeremiah taken out of the courtyard of the guard.(V) They turned him over to Gedaliah(W) son of Ahikam,(X) the son of Shaphan,(Y) to take him back to his home. So he remained among his own people.(Z)
15 While Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the Lord came to him: 16 “Go and tell Ebed-Melek(AA) the Cushite, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words(AB) against this city—words concerning disaster,(AC) not prosperity. At that time they will be fulfilled before your eyes. 17 But I will rescue(AD) you on that day, declares the Lord; you will not be given into the hands of those you fear. 18 I will save(AE) you; you will not fall by the sword(AF) but will escape with your life,(AG) because you trust(AH) in me, declares the Lord.’”

39 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
2 And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
3 And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
4 And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
5 But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
6 Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
9 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
10 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
11 Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;
14 Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
15 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
16 Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
17 But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
18 For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord.
