11 οφελον ανειχεσθε μου μικρον τη αφροσυνη αλλα και ανεχεσθε μου
2 ζηλω γαρ υμας θεου ζηλω ηρμοσαμην γαρ υμας ενι ανδρι παρθενον αγνην παραστησαι τω χριστω
3 φοβουμαι δε μηπως ως ο οφις ευαν εξηπατησεν εν τη πανουργια αυτου ουτως φθαρη τα νοηματα υμων απο της απλοτητος της εις τον χριστον
4 ει μεν γαρ ο ερχομενος αλλον ιησουν κηρυσσει ον ουκ εκηρυξαμεν η πνευμα ετερον λαμβανετε ο ουκ ελαβετε η ευαγγελιον ετερον ο ουκ εδεξασθε καλως ηνειχεσθε
5 λογιζομαι γαρ μηδεν υστερηκεναι των υπερ λιαν αποστολων
6 ει δε και ιδιωτης τω λογω αλλ ου τη γνωσει αλλ εν παντι φανερωθεντες εν πασιν εις υμας
7 η αμαρτιαν εποιησα εμαυτον ταπεινων ινα υμεις υψωθητε οτι δωρεαν το του θεου ευαγγελιον ευηγγελισαμην υμιν
8 αλλας εκκλησιας εσυλησα λαβων οψωνιον προς την υμων διακονιαν
9 και παρων προς υμας και υστερηθεις ου κατεναρκησα ουδενος το γαρ υστερημα μου προσανεπληρωσαν οι αδελφοι ελθοντες απο μακεδονιας και εν παντι αβαρη υμιν εμαυτον ετηρησα και τηρησω
10 εστιν αληθεια χριστου εν εμοι οτι η καυχησις αυτη ου σφραγισεται εις εμε εν τοις κλιμασιν της αχαιας
11 διατι οτι ουκ αγαπω υμας ο θεος οιδεν
12 ο δε ποιω και ποιησω ινα εκκοψω την αφορμην των θελοντων αφορμην ινα εν ω καυχωνται ευρεθωσιν καθως και ημεις
13 οι γαρ τοιουτοι ψευδαποστολοι εργαται δολιοι μετασχηματιζομενοι εις αποστολους χριστου
14 και ου θαυμαστον αυτος γαρ ο σατανας μετασχηματιζεται εις αγγελον φωτος
15 ου μεγα ουν ει και οι διακονοι αυτου μετασχηματιζονται ως διακονοι δικαιοσυνης ων το τελος εσται κατα τα εργα αυτων
16 παλιν λεγω μη τις με δοξη αφρονα ειναι ει δε μηγε καν ως αφρονα δεξασθε με ινα μικρον τι καγω καυχησωμαι
17 ο λαλω ου λαλω κατα κυριον αλλ ως εν αφροσυνη εν ταυτη τη υποστασει της καυχησεως
18 επει πολλοι καυχωνται κατα την σαρκα καγω καυχησομαι
19 ηδεως γαρ ανεχεσθε των αφρονων φρονιμοι οντες
20 ανεχεσθε γαρ ει τις υμας καταδουλοι ει τις κατεσθιει ει τις λαμβανει ει τις επαιρεται ει τις υμας εις προσωπον δερει
21 κατα ατιμιαν λεγω ως οτι ημεις ησθενησαμεν εν ω δ αν τις τολμα εν αφροσυνη λεγω τολμω καγω
22 εβραιοι εισιν καγω ισραηλιται εισιν καγω σπερμα αβρααμ εισιν καγω
23 διακονοι χριστου εισιν παραφρονων λαλω υπερ εγω εν κοποις περισσοτερως εν πληγαις υπερβαλλοντως εν φυλακαις περισσοτερως εν θανατοις πολλακις

27 εν κοπω και μοχθω εν αγρυπνιαις πολλακις εν λιμω και διψει εν νηστειαις πολλακις εν ψυχει και γυμνοτητι
28 χωρις των παρεκτος η επισυστασις μου η καθ ημεραν η μεριμνα πασων των εκκλησιων
29 τις ασθενει και ουκ ασθενω τις σκανδαλιζεται και ουκ εγω πυρουμαι
30 ει καυχασθαι δει τα της ασθενειας μου καυχησομαι
31 ο θεος και πατηρ του κυριου ημων ιησου χριστου οιδεν ο ων ευλογητος εις τους αιωνας οτι ου ψευδομαι
32 εν δαμασκω ο εθναρχης αρετα του βασιλεως εφρουρει την δαμασκηνων πολιν πιασαι με θελων

11 Надеюсь, вы готовы немного потерпеть мою глупость. Потерпите, пожалуйста! 2 Я ревную о вас Божьей ревностью. Я обручил вас единственному Мужу – Христу, чтобы вы предстали перед Ним как невинная невеста. 3 Но боюсь, что как Ева была обманута хитрым змеем[a], так и ваши умы могут уклониться от искреннего и чистого посвящения Христу. 4 Если к вам кто-либо приходит и возвещает вам не Того Иисуса, Которого мы возвещали, или если вы получаете не Того Духа, Какого вы уже получили, или не ту Радостную Весть, которую вы уже приняли, – то вы все это прекрасно терпите. 5 Я не думаю, что я чем-то хуже их, этих ваших «сверхапостолов». 6 Может, я не так красноречиво говорю, но у меня есть знание, впрочем, мы во всем показали вам это со всей очевидностью.

12 И я буду продолжать поступать так же, чтобы не давать повода тем, кто ищет повод считаться равными нам, чем они и хвалятся. 13 Эти люди – лжеапостолы, нечестные работники, притворяющиеся апостолами Христа. 14 Впрочем, это неудивительно: если сам сатана принимает вид ангела света, 15 то не следует удивляться и тому, что его служители принимают вид служителей праведности. 16 Я хочу еще раз повторить: не принимайте меня за глупца, но раз уж вы это делаете, то разрешите мне, глупому, похвалиться еще немного. 17 То, что я сейчас скажу, я скажу не так, как это сделал бы Господь. Я стану хвалиться, как глупец. 18 Многие в этом мире хвалятся, так разрешите же похвалиться и мне. 19 Вы с удовольствием терпите глупцов, а вы ведь такие умные! 20 Вы терпите тех, кто порабощает вас и живет за ваш счет, кто помыкает вами, важничает перед вами и бьет вас по лицу. 21 Скажу к своему стыду, что нам не хватило смелости так поступать с вами!
Но чем бы они ни хвалились, я тоже смею похвалиться, и вы можете отнести это на счет моей глупости. 22 Они евреи, и я тоже еврей, они израильтяне – я тоже. Они потомки Авраама? Я тоже! 23 Они служители Христа? Пусть и глупо так говорить, но я служу Христу еще больше, чем они! Я трудился больше, меня чаще заключали в темницы, чаще избивали, я не раз был на грани смерти. 24 Пять раз иудеи давали мне по тридцать девять[b] ударов плетью. 25 Три раза меня били палками, один раз меня побивали камнями, три раза я попадал в кораблекрушение и один раз провел всю ночь и весь день в открытом море[c]. 26 Мне приходилось постоянно путешествовать. Я подвергался опасностям, когда пересекал реки, опасностям от бандитов, от моих соплеменников, от язычников; я бывал в опасностях в городе, в пустыне, на море и в опасностях от лжебратьев. 27 Я трудился до изнеможения, часто без сна, испытывая голод и жажду, часто без пищи[d], на холоде и при недостатке одежды. 28 Кроме всего этого на меня постоянно давит забота о всех церквах. 29 Я сочувствую каждому, кто слаб, я страдаю из-за всякого человека, который впадает в грех.
30 Если мне и следует хвалиться, то я буду хвалиться тем, в чем я слаб. 31 Бог и Отец Господа Иисуса знает, что я не лгу. Да будет Ему слава вовеки.
32 В Дамаске правитель, назначенный царем Аретой[e], приказал сторожить город, чтобы арестовать меня. Но меня спустили в корзине через отверстие в крепостной стене, и так я спасся от него.

11 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.
2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
5 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
9 And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
11 Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
16 I say again, let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
18 Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
20 For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

11 I hope you will put up with(A) me in a little foolishness.(B) Yes, please put up with me! 2 I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband,(C) to Christ, so that I might present you(D) as a pure virgin to him. 3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning,(E) your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached,(F) or if you receive a different spirit(G) from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel(H) from the one you accepted, you put up with it(I) easily enough.
5 I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.”[a](J) 6 I may indeed be untrained as a speaker,(K) but I do have knowledge.(L) We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way. 7 Was it a sin(M) for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God(N) to you free of charge?(O) 8 I robbed other churches by receiving support from them(P) so as to serve you. 9 And when I was with you and needed something, I was not a burden to anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied what I needed.(Q) I have kept myself from being a burden to you(R) in any way, and will continue to do so. 10 As surely as the truth of Christ is in me,(S) nobody in the regions of Achaia(T) will stop this boasting(U) of mine. 11 Why? 12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles,(X) deceitful(Y) workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ.(Z) 14 And no wonder, for Satan(AA) himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.(AB)
Paul Boasts About His Sufferings
16 I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool.(AC) But if you do, then tolerate me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting. 17 In this self-confident boasting I am not talking as the Lord would,(AD) but as a fool.(AE) 18 Since many are boasting in the way the world does,(AF) I too will boast.(AG) 19 You gladly put up with(AH) fools since you are so wise!(AI) 20 In fact, you even put up with(AJ) anyone who enslaves you(AK) or exploits you or takes advantage of you or puts on airs or slaps you in the face. 21 To my shame I admit that we were too weak(AL) for that!
Whatever anyone else dares to boast about—I am speaking as a fool—I also dare to boast about.(AM) 22 Are they Hebrews? So am I.(AN) Are they Israelites? So am I.(AO) Are they Abraham’s descendants? So am I.(AP) 23 Are they servants of Christ?(AQ) (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder,(AR) been in prison more frequently,(AS) been flogged more severely,(AT) and been exposed to death again and again.(AU) 24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes(AV) minus one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods,(AW) once I was pelted with stones,(AX) three times I was shipwrecked,(AY) I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the move. Concern for Their Faithfulness

Reluctant Boasting
