2 Peter 3:8-14
New King James Version
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and (A)a thousand years as one day. 9 (B)The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but (C)is longsuffering toward [a]us, (D)not willing that any should perish but (E)that all should come to repentance.
The Day of the Lord
10 But (F)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which (G)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [b]burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be (H)in holy conduct and godliness, 12 (I)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will (J)be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will (K)melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for (L)new heavens and a (M)new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Be Steadfast
14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent (N)to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;

New International Version
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.(A) 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise,(B) as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient(C) with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.(D)
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.(E) The heavens will disappear with a roar;(F) the elements will be destroyed by fire,(G) and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a](H)
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward(I) to the day of God and speed its coming.[b](J) That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.(K) 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth,(L) where righteousness dwells.
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless(M) and at peace with him.
