Psalm 73:12-28

New American Standard Bible

¹²Behold, ^(A)these are the wicked;
And always ^(B)at ease, they have increased in wealth.
¹³Surely ^(C)in vain I have ^[a]kept my heart pure
And ^(D)washed my hands in innocence;
¹⁴For I have been stricken ^(E)all day long,
And ^[b]^(F)punished every morning.

¹⁵If I had said, “I will speak this way,”
Behold, I would have betrayed the ^(G)generation of Your children.
¹⁶When I ^(H)thought of understanding this,
It was ^[c]troublesome in my sight
¹⁷Until I entered the ^[d]^(I)sanctuary of God;
Then I perceived their ^(J)end.
¹⁸You indeed put them on ^(K)slippery ground;
You dropped them into ^[e]^(L)ruin.
¹⁹How they are ^[f]^(M)destroyed in a moment!
They are utterly swept away by ^(N)sudden terrors!
²⁰Like a ^(O)dream when one awakes,
Lord, when ^(P)stirred, You will ^(Q)despise their image.

²¹When my ^(R)heart was embittered
And I was ^(S)pierced ^[g]within,
²²Then I was ^(T)stupid and ignorant;
I was like an ^(U)animal ^[h]before You.
²³Nevertheless ^(V)I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
²⁴You will ^(W)guide me with Your plan,
And afterward ^(X)receive me ^[i]to glory.

²⁵^(Y)Whom do I have in heaven but You?
And with You, I desire nothing on earth.
²⁶My ^(Z)flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the ^[j]strength of my heart and my ^(AA)portion forever.
²⁷For, behold, ^(AB)those who are far from You will ^(AC)perish;
You have destroyed all those who ^[k]^(AD)are unfaithful to You.
²⁸But as for me, ^(AE)the nearness of God is good for me;
I have made the Lord ^[l]God my ^(AF)refuge,
So that I may ^(AG)tell of all Your works.
