Nahum 2:6-8

^6 (A)The river gates are opened;
    the palace ^(B)melts away;
⁷ its mistress^[a] is ^(C)stripped;^[b] she is carried off,
    her slave girls ^(D)lamenting,
moaning like doves
    and beating their breasts.
^8 (E)Nineveh is like a pool
    whose waters run away.^[c]
“Halt! Halt!” they cry,
    but ^(F)none turns back.
