ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಜನನ

2 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ಅಗಸ್ಟಸ್ ಸೀಸರನು ರೋಮನ್ನರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಗಣತಿ ಆಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. 2 ಇದು ಮೊಟ್ಟಮೊದಲನೆಯ ಜನಗಣತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕುರೇನ್ಯನು ಸಿರಿಯ ದೇಶದ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಇದು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿತು. 3 ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ನೊಂದಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮ ಊರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
4 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೋಸೇಫನು ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ನಜರೇತ್ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಜುದೇಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಬೆತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಯೋಸೇಫನು ದಾವೀದನ ಮನೆತನದವನಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನ ಊರಾದ ಬೆತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. 5 ಅವನು ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮರಿಯಳನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು. ಆಕೆಗೆ ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಿತಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿತ್ತು. (ಮರಿಯಳು ಆಗ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.) 6 ಅವರು ಬೆತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮರಿಯಳಿಗೆ ಹೆರಿಗೆಕಾಲ ಬಂತು. 7 ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಮಗುವನ್ನು (ಯೇಸು) ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಛತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳ ದೊರೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮರಿಯಳು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಬಟ್ಟೆಯಿಂದ ಸುತ್ತಿ ದನದ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇವು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಸಿದಳು.

The Birth of Jesus
2 In those days Caesar Augustus(A) issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.(B) 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.)(C) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem(D) the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him(E) and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
