²² saying,^(A) “It is necessary that the Son of Man^(B) suffer many things^(C) and be rejected^(D) by the elders, chief priests, and scribes,^(E) be killed, and be raised the third day.”^(F)

Take Up Your Cross

²³ Then he said to them all, “If anyone wants to follow after^[a] me, let him deny himself,^(G) take up his cross daily,^[b] and follow me.^{(H) 24} For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me will save it.^(I)
