Isaiah 14:24

²⁴^[a] The Lord of Heaven’s Armies makes this solemn vow:

“Be sure of this:
Just as I have intended, so it will be;
just as I have planned, it will happen.

Isaiah 14:24 sn Having announced the downfall of the Chaldean empire, the Lord appends to this prophecy a solemn reminder that the Assyrians, the major Mesopotamian power of Isaiah’s day, would be annihilated, foreshadowing what would subsequently happen to Babylon and the other hostile nations.

²⁴The Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; ^Tof hosts] has ·made this promise [sworn this oath]:

“These things will happen exactly as I planned them;
they will happen exactly as I ·set them up [purposed them].

“Surely, as I have planned,^(B) so it will be,
and as I have purposed, so it will happen.^(C)
