¹⁵ Canaan ^[a]became the father of ^(A)Sidon, his firstborn, and ^(B)Heth ¹⁶ and ^(C)the Jebusite and the Amorite and the Girgashite ¹⁷ and the Hivite and the Arkite and the Sinite ¹⁸ and the Arvadite and the Zemarite and the Hamathite; and afterward the families of the Canaanite were spread abroad. ^19 (D)The territory of the Canaanite ^[b]extended from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; as you go toward ^(E)Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

³⁴ When Esau was forty years old ^(A)he ^[a]married Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; ³⁵ and ^(B)they ^[b]brought grief to Isaac and Rebekah.

Jacob Is Sent Away

28 So Isaac called Jacob and ^(A)blessed him and charged him, and said to him, “^(B)You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.
